Talk radio, TV, talk at the water cooler...everyone is in s h i t s and giggles down here in SoFla about the Tuna arriving!

My buddy sends me an email titled: "Patriots Reign Over - Tuna Special Coming to Town" which went on to tell me how Belichick owes his success to Tuna more than Mangini does to Belichick.

That may be true in a sense, but I also had to quote him the numbers:

    "LB:

A very common misconception among the uninformed masses who get all their information from talking heads but never research the numbers.

So, to remove oursleves form that group, let's take a quick look at the numbers because they never lie:

    Career Won/Lost Records:

    Parcells with Belichick
    117 Wins
    73 Losses
    .620 winning %
    2 Super Bowl wins

    Parcells without Belichick
    55 Wins
    57 Losses
    .490 winning %
    0 Super Bowl wins

    Belichick with Parcells
    117 Wins
    73 Losses
    .620 winning %
2 Super Bowl wins (1986 SB XXI & 1990 SB XXV)

    Belichick without Parcells
    125 Wins
    81 Losses
    .607 winning %
3 Super Bowl wins (Soon to be 4 ;-) )"

Yep, the Dolphins can only get better by hiring one of the members of the Belichick coaching tree :)

The last time they were this giddy was when they picked up Daunte Culpepper. Remember him? Big guy, rocket arm, "better than Brady"? Too bad he had a peg-leg.:)

Parcells seems to have some late onset ADD, as soon as he gets ready to really contend he quits or retires again.. hope the Miami fans don't think he is going to hang around for a long time.

Well, even if he doesn't ACTUALLY turn the club around, ticket sales will get a shot in the arm, which might have been the only goal.

Convincing stats. I think it's possible that your friends in SoFla will start to understand what they can really look forward to when Parcells pulls into town, walks into his office, and says, "Wait, didn't I sign with the Falcons?!?"

As long as he doesn't put on the pads and become thier QB,RB,WR and CB they should win no more than 4-6 game next yr.

Tuna is going to try to be an executive. His track record has not been too good in that respect. He can certainly judge talent and acquire it. But he tends to get his team into CAP problems.

As a Coach tuna is of the constant needling and constant criticism school. He just doesn't wear well. After few years the players start to tune him out. There was a famous Yankee manager who had the distinction of being hired and fired several times. Martin could egg on his players to get them to play over their natural talent level if only to show that SOB of a manager.

Tuna is another example of that school of coaching. He has been smart enough to see when the players start to tune him out and leave before he has a disastrous year.

As a Team Executive perhaps he can merely add the talent, learn to watch the dollars, and yet not have to alienate the players as he had to do when Coaching. All he needs is the patience to build a club and watch the dollars; it does not seem to be much of a stretch, to see him grow in that category. By far picking the talent is the tougher situation.

The AFCE is going to get tougher in a few years. Mangini/Tannenbaum are making the Jets better, Levy and Jauron have already laid a good foundation with the Bills; and now Tuna will start to rebuild the Phish from top to bottom. Their programs should start showing progress by 2010.

Whoa! The jury is still out on this one and could become a horse of a different color. I'd say that if Wreckless Eric repeats the results of this season next year or shows minimal improvement, his HC tenure will be hist, will be hist, will be history. (Any vague reference to "The Wizard of Oz" was purely intended.)

    Disable Jersey

If Tuna can simply hire a good GM and a good HC (I'm more confident here) he'll have improved the situation markedly. Miami has been in full implosion mode held back only because of their excellent, now aged core D.

If Tuna can manage a .490 winning percentage over the next 3 years, with THAT franchise, in THIS division... that would be remarkable.

This year they are 1-13, last year 6-10.

If he can get them to 8-8, that would be a pretty good improvement. I don't think anybody expects him to get them to the SB. But if he can get them to 10-6, and find a coach of close to BB's talent to take over the HC job, he will have done plenty.

You heard it here first. Parcells is NOT worrying about his division record.
