"NFL Players Association figures indicate in 2008 a first-round pick’s average guaranteed money was $11,924,000, including base salary, signing, roster and option bonuses. A second-round pick averaged $1,932,000 in guarantees".

This is from Borges' column this morning. AVERAGE GUARANTEED $$ for 2nd rounders of almost $2Million sounds high.

Can anyone confirm these numbers??

Can anyone confirm these numbers??

Terrence Wheatley (#62 last year): $890K SB
Devin Thomas (#34 last year): $2.7M SB

So an average of about $2M sounds about right.

The $12M for first rounders sounds about right, although the median number is probably a bit lower, because it's top heavy.

That said, we can expect a cap hit for the four-first rounders of about $1.1M for Chung, $900K each for Brace and Butler, and $600K for Vollmer.
