Denver won 13 games in the 2012 regular season with 11 coming against teams under .500
    P. Manning is 1 win, 3 loses after a bi-week in the Post Season (Dome Games Folks)
    P. Manning is 6 wins, 4 loses at Home in the Post Season (again in that cozy Dome) *correction on original post of 3-6 at home*

Not sure what the weather will be like in Denver in a few weeks, but I like the Pats in Denver, OUTSIDE in the cold, wind and possible snow.

    Yes, I like it!

I happen to think that the Pats can beat Denver in Denver without too much concern, but let's be real. The Pats only beat three teams over .500. That's the nature of being a winning team though; you make other teams' records worse.

If the Pats would have lost all their games instead of winning them, St. Louis and Miami would have been winning teams, and the Jest and Bills would have been .500 teams.

Judging by the number of Broncos/Manning posts here, it seems like the majority of Pats fans are peeing their pants at the prospect of facing the Broncos in the AFCCG. This is like a Jets board with everyone obsessed with the Pats and constantly talking about how they're overrated.

I watched a lot of Broncos games this year, as I have Sunday ticket. Their season changed with the comeback win at SD, and you could see the team's confidence and motivation going through the roof. Since then, they've been in a zone. They've obliterated almost every team they've played- I think if they'd played tougher opponents, they probably still would have won, but who knows... it's irrelevant.

I'm not sure what Peyton Manning's lack of success versus the Pats 10 years ago has to do with this year either. Since around 2004, the home team has generally won the Brady-Manning matchups, and no lead has been safe for the Pats and their questionable pass coverage/ lack of pass rush late in games.

So let's stop acting like a bunch of Jan Bradys here. The Broncos are a damn good football team and the most positive indicator for the Pats is that it seems we matchup well with their defense. Although they are playing better on D, the Pats have a very unconventional offense that some teams struggle badly to defend. That seems more likely to be the case if these teams matchup, as team unity and schemes can only take you so far. If there are major physical matchups in favor of the Pats, they should win unless they shoot themselves in the foot (which seems to happen to them on the road against good teams.)

Finally, before we get too overboard with our displaced terror of possibly losing to Manning, there are so many years when it looks obvious the 1 and 2 seed will ultimately have a showdown in the AFCCG, only to see that look silly when it doesn't happen. Both the Pats and Broncos will have their hands full, so this matchup is far from inevitable. If it does happen, the Pats will have to play an incredible game to win; the Broncos are a great team playing with a ton of confidence, home field, and a better overall defense. The Pats need to win this type of game to finally "grow up" and show they can overcome adversity at the highest level, something they have not been able to do since 2004.

I think most of us are pretty confident against anyone if we are healthy. A relatively healthy Talib and Dennard will make the game at Denver much easier for us. Another key is to get Manning off his spot. Amazing how things change when he is even a little uncomfortable in the pocket.

Lets be honest, generally teams we lose to in the playoffs are teams with defenses that are able to completely shut down this offense....the Ravens, the Jets, The Giants...teams that can stop the run(or whatever we had as far as a running game with Maroney/green-ellis)

while Denver has a good defense with alot of pass-rushers they are SMALL...its a good matchup for our offense....look at the 3 games we have played against that defense?

while they have alot of pass-rushers they are Small...we had no problem running all over them...and they had no answers for our Tight Ends.

a good way to neutralize someone like manning is to simply....keep him off the field. and I would expect us to run alot against their small linebackers/DE's

    Fox isn't Shanny.

Shanny was a bad matchup for BB.

Fox isn't that impressive. Didn't he lose in the superbowl vs BB?

I would rather play Denver than anyone else for the SB, we can do it, stop the run and let Tom and gronk score some points so manning has to be perfect everytime to beat us.

Did you know?...that the Pats and the Broncos both have to win their first game before playing each other? Let's not get ****y here.

It wasn't too long ago that we were looking ahead past the Jets a couple weeks after blowing them out 45-3. One week at a time.

It's a question of match ups. And we match up very well against Denver. Talib and Dennard will take out Thomas and decker. Their middle lbs will find it hard to contain gronk and Hernandez.

its hard to know for sure... NE will be facing different inside LBs and corners from the last time they played... a number of those players were demoted... the ones that replaced them have been a lot better... it'll be interesting to see (if it happens)...

i'm also a little surprised that you feel your corners will take Thomas and Decker out so easily... not saying they arent good corners but those two WRs haven't been shut down all season... both over 1000yds with Thomas 4th in the nfl...

the great thing about stats is

none of the regular season ones matter in the playoffs

there's no use getting bent out of shape at positioning when teams have to actually win in the playoffs

here's a great stat though, and i believe this one is correct

if NE wins the superbowl vs the packers or vikings, they'll become the only team to ever win a superbowl vs each division from the opposite conference (rams, eagles, panthers being the other wins)

i find that stat amazing, and if NE can actually do it, probably something that will never be accomplished again

from what i saw of denver this year, they had a lot of slow starts early, but nice finishes even in those early losses

once peyton seemed to get in full gear with the offense, there was no turning back

denver deserves the credit they're getting but like any top seed, they have to deliver in the playoffs

when's the last time a #1 seed won it all?

was it a NE team? steelers?

oh yeah, and as stated, if any team is equipped for a bad weather game in denver, if it is so, then it's NE , for sure
