And I dont believe that anyone on that list would have.
Who do you think would have and who would they replace?

To complete the roster for Opening Day last year:

My 4th-round choice, CB Tarell Brown, replaces FS Rashad Baker;

My 5th-rounder, OL Doug Datish, replaces OL Billy Yates;

My top of 6th-rounder, S John Wendling, replaces LB David Herron;

My 1st end of 6th-rounder, TE Ben Patrick, replaces TE Dave Thomas, who should've been PUP'ed to start the season;

My 2nd end of 6th-rounder, LB Brandon Siler, replaces LB Corey Mays;

My 3rd end of 6th-rounder, RB DeShawn Wynn, replaces QB Matt Gutierrez;

My top of 7th-rounder, DL Kareem Brown, if unavailable, could be replaced by DEs Chase Pittman, Xavier Jackson, Jeremy Clark or even UMaine's Mike DeVito, who as a UDFA made the r-a-t-s 53 out of TC and stayed there all season; or by OLB Justin Rogers, if available.

As for the end of 7th-rounder, there were so many better candidates than lil' Mikey Elgin, you can take your pick. Heck, he wasn't even the best available OL named Mike on his own team.

Baker made the team as a special teams player and safety. Remember we were short safeties with rodney suspended.
Herron lasted a week, so that isnt really a valid roster spot.
Thomas wasnt on pup, and if he were we would have kept Marcellus Rivers instead.
We passed on Brandon Siler the entire draft. We did that because he wasnt a better player than Corey Mays.
I dont think DeShawn Wynn can play QB. We needed 3.
Kareem Brown was a 4th round pick. It seems that you feel your talent evaluation skills are so much better than BBs that you could have found 4 guys that BB didnt even want that were better in the 7th round. Your 'proof' that the guy was good enough to make the Jets gave me a good laugh. Justin Rogers was drafted and didnt make the team, so i dont know how your planof drafting him 2 rounds later would mean he would make the team.

As I said, none of these guys would have made the team. I think that I will accept BBs football knowledge over yours.

I agree with Andy...hands down...

Then we agree to disagree, and I'll leave it at that.

Minus the trades, it was the worst Patriots draft in recent memory.

It was reminiscent of Bobby Grier's drafts.

Minus the shooting, Mrs Lincoln had a great time at the theater.

[The trades count.]

Who's to say if the players that are stacked up now will out perform last years. I think Samuel was good. Wilson was a regular contributor. Gay was a solid player in our scheme.

Have we upgraded any of these positions? Maybe slightly. It really depends on the rookies. If they shine then we go back to the SB. If the struggle, we get bounced in the playoffs.

It was the worst draft class in recent memory. Draft picks are assets that you can "spend", "invest" in later drafts or trade for other assets. All are equally valid and important in constructing a team.

The Patriots turned their assets in a really poor 2007 draft class into Meriweather, Mayo, Welker, a 2009 2nd round pick and Moss. Go ahead and rewind history, take all of the Pats picks back and come up with a better set of players than that.

The other thing to remember is the roster limit, both overall (53) and gameday (45). Someone has to play special teams, so if you aren't starting or a sub-package specialist, you better excel on special teams. The inactive 8 roster spots are developmental. You can't put together a team and not take these aspects into account.

The Pats took flyers on developmental projects in the later rounds because that is the part of the roster they were filling out. No matter who they took, it was long odds they would make the team...so they were essentially picking the practice squad after round 4.

Seriously, I don't get the issue. The Pats have a stocked roster in a year with a crap 2007 draft class and some key openings (with extra picks) in a stocked 2008 draft class. Isn't that exactly how you want the front office to position the team?

How about everybody from last year's draft, for starters?

I think Welker and Moss were spectacular picks. And Brandon Meriwether looks like a keeper too.

Perhaps, You were referring to the rest of the 6th and 7th rounders, all of whom ended up on somebodies PS.
