Sorry if I didn't see a thread for this. Post your observations/opinions on what you saw at training camp.

-Chandler Jones looks big, not the skinny/muscular look like I thought.
-Marcus Cannon looks cut and built.
-Donte Stallworth looks fast on routes and returning kicks, I give him a slight edge over Branch.
-Lloyd looks great. He made a sick deep catch outjumping Moore.
    -Mallett looks sloppy.
-Mccourty made a great coverage play on Lloyd.
-Bolden looked quick and good catching out of the backfield.
    -Hightower's hugggggge

Cannon looks a lot svelte this season which I think is an indication that he will be at RT, rather than RG. I actually like Connolly back at RG because of his athletic ability to pull.

Lloyd not so much jumped over Moore as extended his hands over Moore's head. A great catch, yes but what was disturbing was Moore never turned around to look. The same thing happened with McCourty's breakup of the pass intended for Lloyd. McCourty never looked back. It was Lloyd's telegraphing the catch that gave him the inclination to throw up his left arm.

I don't think Mallett was sloppy. He hit all his targets. I don't recall anyone having to reach or jump.

Is this guy to be compared to a Levon Kirkland? It sounds like he has the size and the quickness.

    Went to camp yesterday with my 4 year old. My novice observations;

Chandler Jones, to me, certainly looks the part in pads.

Brandon Lloyd had 2 or 3 circus catches and really seems to be gelling with Brady.

In person, it really is amazing how enormous Gallery is......literally a behemoth.

Solder looks like he's put on some weight which is good.

As many have already said, Hightower is huge and thick.

Edelman looked real good when working in the 7-7 drills.

McCourty had a fantastic break up on a play that Lloyd (I think) had him beat by a step. He just stretched out and batted the ball away at the last second.

Mayo had a great strip of Hernandez after the catch on one play.

Stallworth looks fast still but dropped a few passes (also caught a few).

    Just my 2 cents......

Warning: The below story contains zero football news, just a funny and cute story that my son and I will have forever.

As mentioned I took my 4 year old son Reagan to camp yesterday. It was the first time either of us had gone.

We were sitting in the bleachers and after practice got a great spot for autographs. We were in the front row behind the yellow rope. Well, Brady was signing a few autographs ....just a few. He walked right past Reagan as he was yelling for Brady to sign his jersey. So, after Brady walked past, Reagan decided to go under the rope and onto the field, jersey in hand. * I may have encouraged it....I don't remember all the details :) *

Anyway, he walks right up to Brady and Brady turns around smiling but Reagan forgot his pen so Brady just laughs. You could tell he felt kinda bad. By then the security guy was there telling Reagan he had to go back behind the rope.

    Still, it was kinda cool.

    Just had to share.....

He could run circles around Kirkland. Kirkland was an undersized NT playing ILB.

    Thanks much for this video.

Hernandez looks like gold this year.

I love the use of a fullback on some running plays. Much more of a physical offensive presence. It says to the opposing LBers: be aware of getting knocked on your keister by a fullback, so you can't go head-sweivling as if it's only a passing play.

And the Hernandez juke of Tavon Wilson was world class. PatsCampDay3_2 - YouTube Wilson's overpursuit better not be a habit of his.

Has anyone seen any indication as to which fullback will most likely make the roster, if any at all?

Great question, I haven't seen their names at all so far. With early glowing reports coming in on a lot of potential bubble players at other skill positions (e.g. Bolden, Stallworth, Edelman, Shiancoe), roster space is looking tight.

Ok, I may look foolish in a month, but Bolden just ripped off four long runs and looks lightning quick. Screw making the team, if hes like this on the field he should be in competition to be the main back. :D

This is going to sound absolutely retarded and I don't know if I even agree with what I'm saying, but here it goes: What if BB cuts Vereen in favor of Bolden? Vereen's apparently been having a rough camp and showed nothing last year.

If I were GM, I would keep both, but BB has never been afraid of making tough cuts. We've seen relatively early picks being cut after just one season (Taylor Price, Kevin O'Connell), even if the first season was unproductive due to injury (Tyrone McKenzie).

Having a separate roster spot for a FB is like having a 3rd nipple. I vote for Daniel Fells or Marcus Canon for our FB.

How, specifically, is Vereen having a "rough camp"?

I agree IMO Shinacoe, Fells, Larsen and Fiammetta are competing for the FB/TE slot maybe 2 people there.

Several have made this observation. Reiss for one:

Bolden could be this years UFA surprise. Vereen lacks power, size, and break-away speed. His strength appears to be receiving out of the back field. If he can hang on the the ball, he could battle Woodhead for 3rd down back. Surprisingly, Woodhead continues as KR, which gives him some flexibility as well. If Vereen cannot beat out Woodhead, he could find himself on the outside looking in behind Ridley, Bolden and Woodhead.

I agree. Good reports so far. Seems pretty active.

Having Brace, Warren and Love be the inside/goaline/VW breather-team would certainly make me feel better. Even though they play around 60% in sub-packages, team still need that beef. The question is of the 320lb + guys, how many do you keep? 3? All 4 if they have good camps? Not sure..
