Mr. Kraft should have a special ring made for Tom Martinez...

Of course the article has to make reference to Tebow..

I don't understand why the Patriots have not thought about hiring this guy as the QB coach. When Brady has issues, he goes to him, not O'Brien or whoever they have on staff as the QB coach.

One reason is he has serious health issues, and was near death several months ago.. not everyone wants the rigors that a position coach has to go through.. months and months of long days, with little time off.

I really think the problem was those big bad Ravens were so pathetic in getting any pressure.

Personally, I think he's at his best being fluid in the pocket with some guys around.

With zero pressure, it provides too much time and the ability to get cute and throw off his back foot.

A little movement around the pocket with firm decision making and stepping into the throw is optimal.

Very nice of Brady. It seemed his throws were sailing on him all day long. Actually, I thought he played much better in the second quarter, apart from that stupid decision to throw the bomb to Slater.

Wow, never heard this one before. Brady plays better when being pressured! Hopefully the Giants will do a better job of pressuring Brady like they did in Super Bowl XLII.

I think at some point Martinez would need to be in Foxboro and not everyone wants to live in NE.

Brady has such passion and can be so hard on himself. You couldn't ask for more in a quarterback, I just love the guy.

I tend to think the Ravens had more than a bit to do with his performance Sunday. Save for the bad throw to Gronk early when he was open for a score and the ill-advised bomb to Slater, I don't think he was awful -- just not Tom Terrific.

OK, after actually READING the article, my reaction now is "Big deal, they texted".

I thought TFB would have actually flown out to San Mateo and worked with Martinez for a day or two - or had him flown in like in September.

I wish Brady had time for a trip to San Mateo, but we'll have to settle for texts.

Historically, any time Brady has gone for advice to Martinez, dividends paid off in the very short term. I don't know if that applies just to texting, but I'll take it.

You have to admire a guy like Brady who is perpetually trying to get better and using all resources at his disposal to do this. He keeps any form of his ego in check and it's all about getting better and leading the team.

I actually don't understand how Martinez would be more insightful than the coaches that see brady every day at practice and that analyze game tape in detail

I don't think this means much for Brady's game, but I'm glad to hear that Martinez is well enough to give advice. From what I remember his family saying a few months ago, his death was imminent.

No wonder he is the best QB of his era and arguably the best ever !

When you are this focused and not afraid to take a look at fundamentals that people take for granted at this stage of his career, you normally become the best in business

doing what you like is freedom and liking what you do is happiness. TFB obviously likes what he is doing :rocker:

That was before his heart pacemaker was corrected. Read the article.

He is still waiting for a liver transplant.

Good points to bring up. There are a few things I can think of:

Martinez knows Brady inside out- he watched Brady grow up, so he knows exactly what Brady can do and can't do.

Martinez has often been referred to as the "quarterback whisperer" which is to say that he is extremely gifted in identifying and isolating what the mechanical problems are.

The other thing is that he is an outsider, so there's never any pressure and he won't get fired for making the wrong diagnosis (not that he would ever make one) but that there's no pressure on him to say the right things or to be a sycophant. Sometimes it's good to have someone with an outside perspective who has no stake or whose decision may be affected by the weight of the organization.

A lot of conjectures here, but just some thoughts. Maybe someone knows better.

Be thankful participation doesn't require IQ testing.

    Let's dumb it down....

The point is when he's fluid in the pocket, he steps into his throws and is lights out.

Sunday, he had so much time, some of the throws looked like they were off the back foot.

I am willing to bet dollars to donuts they have thought about hiring him.

They may have even done more than just thought about it and offered the guy a job.

He might not want the job responsiblities.

He might not want to move to NE.

Brady may like the idea he has an independent mentor who can freely contridict BB or the OC with out worrying about internal politics of not everyone being on the same page.

BB might like the idea that Brady is getting truely independent analysis.

Because he has no interest in NFL coaching, can make a boat load more money doing what he currently does with a minimal time investment and is very sick.

Other than that, I'm sure he'd love to be Tom Brady's QB coach
