Has anyone else noticed that since both of these Profiles in Courage wrote and published their two birdcage liner Columns that neither one of Them has popped their heads out from under their desks ? I guess that character isn't required in the newspaper business.

Re: Bob Ryan and Tony Mazzarotti

These stories are effectively the Willie Horten commercials of the press trying to deflect attention from the fact that a member of their profession wrote a story without a source and did a great deal of damage.

Re: Bob Ryan and Tony Mazzarotti

Dale just made a funny remark, saying that mazzarotti was at the Celtics game yesterday. Dale was wondering if Mazzarotti went over to Vince (who was sporting an XXXL Paul Pierce Jersey) and told him he was an idiot.

I'm kinda guessing that mazzarotti, didn't confront Vince, for sporting a "game jersey"

Mazzarotti is a joke. He never had any credibility. His job is to be an instigator - like Shaughnessy without the intelligence.

Ryan on the other hand will go to great lengths to argue the merits of a sporting debate. Agree or disagree, he is usually well reasoned and expects the Boston sporting public to live up to its reputation for being tough but caring and smart. His BB diatribe is disappointing - not because he argues againsts him, but because he follows in the footsteps of Schlereth et al and takes the easy way out.

The media (and others) created this firestorm because they thought there was something really sinister out there and not just the taping of signals which was punished in September. They wanted to strip our Lombardis and suspend BB, but it was all a lark.

When the Pats were exonerated and there was nothing other than what was already detailed (and I would argue, based on BB's full interview with CBS earlier this week, even the September stuff was out of line), the haters couldn't let it go, creating an artificial firestorm.

THIS is where intelligent and thoughtful writers should have made their mark. Instead, Ryan took a ticket to ride the Belicheck demolition express. I cannot believe, based on the information provided and the BB interview this week, that someone like Bob Ryan could actually write that the Patriots three Superbowls were tainted. My favorite basketball writer from the 80s is now a just another brash, Limbaugh-like mouthpiece.

Didn't he also say something about the fact that it would NOT apply to Vince because he's not miiddle aged?
