I have read here numerous times that the Patriots are going to switch to a zone-blocking scheme this year. While it sounds good in theory, and personally I think they should, has anybody connected with the team said so?

I've only seen it from posters and speculated by columnists. If Belichick or Scarnecchia has said so in the near past, could someone post a link?

Thanks.

I believe is was Molewisrocks who reported hearing BB make a comment to that effect in a close of season interview on EEI. I'm afraid we'll not know for sure before Mini-Camp or even Training Camp.

If they do this, it should be very interesting. It's not the easiest thing to do when you have built an OL for one style and then switch to another.

I'm not sure the line isn't already built for a zone scheme. I mean, they're not as agile as Denver, but they're among the top 4 or 5 in terms of agility.

In all honesty, I don't know why every team in the NFL doesn't zone block. If done correctly, it can neutralize every stunt and dog the defense can throw at you.

Interesting that the Pats have visited with Guards Ben Grubbs (Auburn), Manny Ramirez (Texas Tech), and Rob Turner (New Mexico) at their All-Star games and have Turner coming to Gillette. If these are the OGs they are looking at, I'd think they aren't going to a zone blocking scheme? (He mumbled plaintively.)
