Well, maybe if we hadn't surrendered that seventh.

FA so far has been excellent. The draft board isn't even stacked yet so we need to wait on that. As far as the 7th goes, there is only so many draft choices that we can squeeze onto the roster. You need to look at the total of the draft choices we currently have along with the compensatory picks that we will be awarded soon. Draft choices are barganing chips anyway, the point is to collect talent. The Pats had a clear opportunity to make a move that would make the team better, we currently have no one on the roster with Welker's skill set so we made the move to acquire him.
2007 DRAFT ORDER
The following draft order does not include Compensatory Selections, which will be awarded to clubs at the bottom of Rounds 3-7.
Round One
24th pick (24th Overall) - New England from Seattle
28th pick (28th Overall) - New England (slotted pick)
Round Three
28th pick (90th Overall) - New England (slotted pick)
Round Four
28th pick (123rd Overall) - New England (slotted pick)
Round Six
6th pick (165th Overall)- New England from Arizona
28th pick (187th Overall) - New England (slotted pick)
