I agree Icy. I'm a little tired of free agents/agents jacking up the price. Hey, if he can get more from the Mets, go sign with the Mets, and enjoy yourself. Quite honestly, I'd rather do a trade or bring up a youngster then overpay.

    No Jersey Selected

reports this morning that the red sox will have another crack at getting Bay, possibly with clearing Drew or Ellsburys salary.

Back to Bay. Supposedly, the Mets have a better offer on the table. I say, enjoy playing for the Mets unless you want to take less playing here.

Bay should get rid of his agent he played this all wrong. Even if he was done with the Sox he should not of announced it.

Why do you think the Sox shouldnt out bid NY for him? It's not like they havent overpaid for far lesser players during Theo's tenure.

HUGEEE mistake letting Bay walk. It's borderline inexcusable from a fan perspective. I cant think of a single reason for any Sox fan not to be Pissed off about this. It's a slap in our face that they even talk about "bridge years". This is the Boston freaking Red Sox... not the Colorodo Rockies.

They should sign Bay AND add another stud bat via trade... whether it be Gonzales or Miguel Cabrea.

I do not think the Yankees or Sox want him enough to out bid each other. He would be great to have but it may limit one of them from getting a guy like Carl Crawford next offseason. The Free agent market is much stronger next season.

Why don't I want Jason Bay. Because he could have signed here a long time ago but chose instead to play the game of I can get more if I play another team which I have no desire to play for against the team which traded for me. **** him!

    That's just business man...

You would rather have a weaker team because you think he somehow slighted the Sox? Seriously? lol

Tit for tat Bay is a more productive hitter than A.Gonz. Letting him walk is a giant mistake.

It's also business that if you don't sign with us now, we are not signing you later after you have negotiated with a team that you have no desire to play for. Take note, future free agents.

He has one choice with the Sox ... a back loaded deal ... or keep making phone calls.

F him Icy. A player finds a home with a very decent payday (tell me the guy didn't find Nirvana after playing in Pittsburgh). Then has the audacity, to say he can make more money playing with the Mets..........the F'n Mets! Go play for the Mets and enjoy the extra $$.
I also have a real problem with paying more money due to a lack of a salary cap. Some fans here will be the first to complain about the Yankees buying a championship and in the next breath want to ratchet up paying for players who are playing the system.
