We end up in a tie as a wildcard team w/ the Doofuses?!? Well, at least we don't have everyone picking Indy again this year. Has anyone sent this to Rodney? I can't wait for opening night when I will be cheering for the Steelers to steamroll the Doofuses. Go Steelers (for one week only)!

Re: Anyone want a good laugh? I present the SI 06 predictions

I think we will go 14-2. Dropping one to Miami (yearly tradition) and one of the following games Cincy, Denver, Indy. 13-3 if we have a let down game against either the Bears or Jags.

Re: Anyone want a good laugh? I present the SI 06 predictions

normally i do not laugh at this time (h 23 here) but...
Miami at the Super Bowl ??? AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH

Bengals 8-8 only ?

Re: Anyone want a good laugh? I present the SI 06 predictions

I guess I'll throw my hat in the ring first:

* Miami will absolutely not win the East, but I'm sure that I'm not alone in that line of thinking. However, where I may be out on the edge is that I believe that Miami is not even a playoff calliber team. They fluked their way to a decent record last year, and will improve from a "should have been" 6-10 to 8-8. (Oh my God. After typing this I see that they have Miami in the Superbowl. The Super Bowl?! :bricks: )

* The Steelers will not win 12 games. I do think that they will win the North, though.

* For a publication that focuses on sports, they don't even realize the basic components of an NFL prediction. Every year you have:

3-4 new Division winners, two of which that missed the playoffs the prior year.
3-4 playoff teams from last year will not go this year, and vice versa. At least one of these teams is a big surprise on either direction.

In their prediction, only 2 teams make the playoffs after missing it last year, with only one of them winning the division. None of the picks have a surprise nature to them whatsoever. Miami and Dallas are everyone's picks to make a run this year (which means neither will) and Jax/TB would probably be on everyone's ballot if asked which two playoff teams from last year will miss out this year. In reality, some team like Green Bay or StL is going to win a division this year. Count on it.

* I will be very surprised if Carolina makes it out of the NFC. Not because they aren't a good team, but becasue every single person I have read or spoken to about it is picking them. The Panthers aren't so good that it should be virtually unanimous, although the sad state of the NFC is a factor, I'm sure.

Re: Anyone want a good laugh? I present the SI 06 predictions

The Sports Press sure is pilling onto the Dolphins bandwagen fast aren't they? ;) I still think they are a year or so away, but we'll see.

I think teh Pats are going to surprise a lot fo people this year who may see al the verterins leaving and assume the worst.

I think this is the best Pat's RB crew in decades, they will be a real smashmouth team this year instead of having to rely on Brady so much. Should be a fun to watch. :)

Ridiculous forecast, that. But even if the playoff brackets came out the way he forecast I doubt we would lose again to the Broncos - BB has an amazing record against teams which previously beat him.

Well, one sports publication just lost my readership. Can they really be serious?

He has Miami beating Pitt and Indy on the road, not a chance in hell. I don't think they beat either of those teams at home during the playoffs!

Re: Anyone want a good laugh? I present the SI 06 predictions

Man, the pundits are going to choke on it when Miami screws the pooch this year. That winning streak was a total mirage, they are not a good team. Even if the Pats are mediocre, they'll win the division by default.

Re: Anyone want a good laugh? I present the SI 06 predictions

I betcha Dr. Z was behind most of these predictions. A couple of weeks ago he spent a few paragraphs ripping the Patriots and how secret they are with injuries. He also lamented the fact that Belichick disciples around the league are following his lead, not giving detailed information about injuries to the media.

Another writer blasting organizations instead of working for stories. Injecting their own biases instead of objectively evaluating players and schemes. I've seen it before.

Re: Anyone want a good laugh? I present the SI 06 predictions

Careful everyone,

Ripping on the Phins is going to bring Aquaman and Chambers back over here
to get mad at us for not respecting Miami's offseason upgrades and may result in another teal tainted history of the NFL since 1972.

Re: Anyone want a good laugh? I present the SI 06 predictions

Peter King of SI has already predicted Cowboys-Patriots in the SB.

Although I think the predictions are laughable (I know I did), I'm actually glad the Dolphins are picked to be there b/c I don't think Culpepper can handle the pressure that comes with these kind of expectations.

Have fun tearing it up. They have the dolphins take the division and us losing to the Broncos during WC weekend.

Good thing this junk is free.

Look who they have representing the AFC in the SuperBowl! I don't have a comment funnier than the face value of that!

Are you sure the link was to the actual SI page and not to some parody, because THAT is funny!!!

The very two points i was lathering up to make!

It is SO GOOD to be the underdog - esp., when you are a powerful underdog.

And the rest of the world sure does think more highly of Daunte than we do.

Re: Anyone want a good laugh? I present the SI 06 predictions

what a joke that prediction is, I mean come on one 9-7 season that was really an 8-8 season and everyone is all over their nuts

Re: SI: Miami Going to the Super Bowl

Pats lose to the Dolphisn twice? NO FREAKIN THANKYOU. Maybe once but not twice.

Dolphins in the SB, Redskins winning their division, that tells you enough about whoever wrote this.
