Addai vs. Maroony 2007-08 Projected Stats

Addai had a poor preseason last year as well. Big difference between teams leaving corners helpless in the preseason to judge how they do 1 on 1 versus the usual looks The Colts D gets. I'd say 1400 on the ground for Addai and another 400 in the passing game for 12 TDs verse 1300 and 200 for Maroney and somewhere in the 9-10 range for TDs. DeDe Dorsey isn't the 2nd RB that Morris is, which is good for Addai's numbers this year, but bad news for the Colts if he gets injured.

Addai was a rookie last year. I don't know if you can compare his rookie preseason to this preseason. There is a reason why he backed up Rhodes for most of last season and then won the starter job. He got better as he got more acclimated to the Colts' offense.

That isn't an issue this year. I am betting it is the o-line more than him.

OK, lets not compare Addai's rookie preseason to this preseason in my scenario. Lets compare the Colts running back in 2005, Edgerrin James, who went for 57 yards on 17 carries, for 3.35 yards per carry in the 2005 preseason. Addai this preseason to date has averaged 3.36. Think The Colts would be able to live with the 1,843 all purpose yards and 14 touchdowns Edge got them that year? I bet everyone in Indy would be fine with that o-line "issue".

Addai will have better numbers, but the RB depth for the colts is horrible behind Addai. I am not saying Addai is better but he will have more carries, and more yards. They seem to be pretty even. I would guess if Maroney was in Indy he would have more yards then in NE, because lack of depth behind him, so he wouldn't share the load, and the best offensive line.

Agreed. and if Addai has too many yards in the regular season, he's going to be wiped out come the playoffs.

I do think Maroney is a better running back, but that doesn't matter. An opinion that does matter is that the Colts thought he was a better rb entering the draft. So there's a consensus.

Boomer - Your predictions are pretty much right on, the TD numbers seem a little high but nice job.

Agreed. Too many TDs, I wouldn't be suprised if Addai had over 1800 all purpose yards though. Addai had like ten catches in the SB as Payton was playing smallball in the rain.

Addai goes 1600 yds 18 TDs.

Mostly because he's on my fantasy team. :D

How can you draft addai? I refused to draft any colt player...been playing since 2002 and i've never drafted a colt...I can't stand rooting for them

If possible can this not turn into a flame piss fest and actually just include good football talk??

I say Maroony will have about 1200-1300 yards, possibly 10-11 TD's this year

Addai I say around the same range, maybe a little higher (1300-1500 yds) And about 12-14 TD's.

I'm not sure of how good a pass catcher Maroony is so I can't get a good prediction on his yardage but I think Addai should have 20-30 receptions and just maybe a couple recieving TD's. Who knows with the yardage
Addai gets the nod for year one, but I still believe MARONEY is the better back and will prove it! Every Colts fan will read this and say "WTF..you're nuts!" but let their careers play out. Addai is a good back, but I'm sticking w/ BB on this one. He chose Maroney over Addai and I'll bet on that alone.

I actually try and draft non-Patriots so I don't feel biased when I'm picking starters.

And I personally have no problems rooting for Addai...just for Manning, who is the one player I could never draft in a million years. Of course, he's getting benched when he faces the Pats.

I don't know. I am beginning to wonder about Addai and how well he will rush this year. Well, not him, but the o-line and how they will block for him. Losing Tarik Glenn hasn't seemed to hurt the passing game all that much, but it seems to affected the Colts' running game far more. Addai has done little this preseason.

Game one he had two carried for 5 yards (no big deal, it is the game where starters play a series or two). In game 2, he rushed seven times for 24 yards (or a little over 3 yards a carry) and one TD. On Saturday night he rushed five times for 18 yards. So in total, he has rushed 14 times for 47 yards and one TD this preseason.

It isn't time to raise the red flags, but I really am beginning to doubt the Colts will have a great running game this year. I can see with the loss of Glenn forcing Addai to have similiar numbers as last year even with an increased role.

FWIW, Ugoh has had a GREAT preseason so far. The offense hasn't missed a beat. I'm sure that teams aren't testing him like they will in the regular season, I'm just saying that, so far, he's passed the tests with flying colors.

Also, although the numbers don't bear it out, IMO Addai has looked REALLY REALLY good so far.

I just PRAY that he stays healthy.(Ugoh too)

Flying colors huh?

this is a bad thread as both play in different offence.
Addai is the primary back and dee-dee i have no clue as we have not seen in season games. But he his not going to be rhodes after that i have no idea.

maroney is going to share his load with morris who is closer to dillon then maroney and we also have a specialist in faulk in 3rd down plays. so the stats will be very different.Heath is getting so many carries in preseason that they might use in games against colts where you need a run between the tackles straight up the gut against smaller defences is used.

Not so. Maroney was #1 on their draft board until the Pats picked him up unexpectedly. Polian panicked and picked Addai because he was so set on drafting an RB.

Well, thats just my opinion, which is based what I've seen of the offense so far. And, from what I've seen, they're just as good or better than they were at this point last year.

If Gonzo can contribute right away and everyone stays healthy, we're gonna be very hard to stop.

NOTE-the preceding is just my OPINION and based on nothing more than what was swimming around in my head at the time I wrote it.

You're just agreeing with what he said. The "he" in the second-to-last setence was in reference to Maroney, not Addai.
