Ok, boy and girls this is the next to the last time we will be doing this exercise in futility ( unless someone else post 5 more threads similar to this):D

Rules:

Using the Sportsline and/or Pro Football Weekly Ranking, make your patriots picks. You can go up 3 places in the ranking during the 1st round(at #27 you can go up as high as #24) and five places for the 2nd through 7th rounds ( I know the Patriots don't have picks in the 5th 6th and 7th at this time)

no trades until after you do the straight up draft. After that, have at it.

No mocking other peoples draft until you have posted your mock to be mocked.

Patriots have picks #27,31,48, 63,93,126.

2 DE, 1 S, 1 CB, 1 WR, 1 OLB and not an underachiever among them.

I used CBS Sportsline data. Here goes:

27. Perry, LB
31. Barron, S
48. Givens, WR
63. Jones, C
93. Randall, DL
126. Prater, CB

With trades:

55. McClellin, LB

I used CBS. PFW has some weird, weird ratings. I like them, because I can get all my target players, but I don't believe or trust them at all.

27 Devon Still
31 Andre Branch
48 Jamell Fleming
63 Brandon Brooks
93 Derek Wolfe
126 Louis Nzegwu

Would have liked to find a way to include Ron Brooks, Reuben Randle, and Demario Davis. Big fan of those players.

I'll go with the Sportsline rankings first.

#27 Mark Barron S Ala ( if only this was true)
#31 Donta Hightower ILB/OLB Ala (if only this was true)
#48 Shea McClellen, OLB Doise (Mayock just got me on his bandwagon tonight)
#63 Ben Jones C Ga
# 93 Alamela Ta'amu DT Washington (I'd rather trade down this pick)

#126 Nick Toon WR Wisc - Reminds me of David givens and it will piss off the Jets fans.

Sportsline on the left or what I call the side of reason and PFW on the right or what I call the no way side.

Devon Still DT 27 Dre Kirkpatrick CB
Mark Barron S 31 Jerel Worthy DT
Lamar Miller (Binkey alert) RB 48 Whitney Mercilus DE\OLB
Jared Crick DE 63 Lamar Miller (Binkey!) RB
Greg Childs WR 93 Matt Reynolds OL
Trevin Wade CB 126 Dajohn Harris DL

Maybe I like the sportsline draft better hmm, better drink this over.

48. Whitney Mercilus OLB/DE

This would be insane!

27. Kendall Reyes
31. Andre Branch
48. Harrison Smith
63. Trumaine Johnson
93. Alameda Ta'amu
126. Joe Adams/Philip Blake/Derek Wolfe

27 Stephon Gilmore (Safety)
31 Dont'a Hightower
48 Shea McClellin
63 Chase Minnifield
93 Greg Childs
126 Ryan Broyles

Competition/Insurance

I used CBS. I'll probably throw something at the tv if we draft db's early. But, my guess is we will.

1a Stephon Gilmore - CB - South Carolina - Pushes McCourty and will play in sub-packages. Insurance if Dowling isn't what we hoped.

1b Mark Barron - S- Alabama - Too good to pass up.

2a Vinny Curry - OLB - Marshall - I think he can start his rookie year.

2b Billy Winn - DE - Boise St - He's closer to Still/Reyes than any db's we'd pick here would be to Gilmore/Barron.

3 Cam Johnson - OLB - Virginia - Big, strong, smart, tough prospect.

4 Joe Adams - WR - Arkansas - Need to help that return game. Maybe eventual replacemet for Welker if he learns the offense.

I'm assuming Light and Waters come back. No roster space available if they do. That's why I didn't take any OL.

27 - Jerel Worthy DT Michigan State
31 - Mark Barron S Alabama
48 - Whitney Mercilus DE Illionis (this one isn't fair)
63 - Brian Quick WR Appalachian State
93 - Alameda Ta'amu DT Washington
126 - Matt Reynolds OT B.Y.U.

Using CBS

27 Devon Still
31 Mark Barron
48 Jayron Hosley
63 Ben Jones
93 Greg Childs
126 Jonathan Massaquoi

Not overly impressed with this Draft. On to the trades....

using the PFW rankings:

27 Gilmore CB SC
31 Reyes DT/DE Uconn
48. Steven Hill WR Ga Tech
63 Ben Jones C Ga
93 Alameda Ta'mua DT Washington
126 Shea MCClellin OLB Boise

cbsports

27 DL Branch
31 DE Reyes
48 CB Denard
62 OLB McClellan
93 FS Martin
127 C Blake

with trades
Trade #27 to ATL for 2013 1st and 2012 #55
#55 OLB Curry

SUMMARY
3 defensive front seven
2 defensive backs
1 center
plus a 2013 1st
