If he's cut and not just re-negotiated to lower his cap number, then he's almost definitely signing with the Jets. They have an OLB need and Rex loves him.
Lombardi was the only other exec in the league who was going to go to bat for him as a HC besides Belichick. What other interviews was he getting? He has to be waiting it out.
Stop worrying about losing him to the Jets. ILB is about 10th on their FA wishlist of positions, and that's only if they decide to move on from David Harris rather than restructure him at a lower price.
Ehhh... he's praised as a competitor and a player but I don't think too many would ever praise him as being a good guy. He's universally thought of as an *******.
It's definitely worth being concerned about.
@AlbertBreer
MRI on Gronkowski's back took place yesterday, and he'll get a second opinion from back specialist Dr. Robert Watkins. Surgery looks likely.
@RapSheet
On Gronk: Had heard he's battling "chronic" back pain and the Patriots were...
The Pats are 15/24 (62.5%) in recovering fumbles by either team this season so they're actually above expectation. The season has such a small sample though that you can't count on regression there.
All of the teams on that list of fewest losing seasons have won a Super Bowl relatively recently except the Eagles and Jets. At least the Eagles made it one. lol.
He's had 20 picks in the first 3 rounds since 2009 and 5 of them have been spent on the secondary. He's spending them at a rate disproportionate to the rest of the team.
They just haven't panned out. Or the coaching has been bad.
Here are the "average" QBs in the NFL from now and a decade ago.
Att Comp Comp% Y/A TD% INT% QBRat
2012 6443 3988 61.9% 7.3 4.3 2.9 86.3
2002 17292 10314 59.7% 6.7 4.0 3.1 80.4
Revis is a special case because he's not your typical shut off half the field shutdown CB. Guys like Nnamdi only play on 1 side. Revis can play anywhere the assignment goes. The Jets defensive scheme is terrible without him.
Brady has a career 78.7 QBRating throwing at him, which while...
That's pretty standard for him. He'll never get upset at the Jets embarrassing themselves since he's a huge Giants fan.
I'm surprised he's not talking about the Yankees.
Also, Mike Francesa hates the Jets so probably not too much schadenfreude there. They only nice word he's ever said about them happened in the Parcells era.
Beningo only rants when there are high expectations and they fail to live up to them. Jets fans are in resignation mode at this point. I'm sure they all hate their team right about now.
