Why are Chargers fans rooting for the Pats?

I am gonna agree with bolts_fan here I am sure there a few whack jobs that would like to see Eli go down on the first play and then the Giants backup QB win the game. But one or two idiot posters doesn't represent an entire fan base.

I have seen a post by Pats fans suggesting that to get back at the media for the recent stupidity, the Patriots should do the ultimate FU of walking off the field and forfeiting. Another wanted to hack into the Boston Herald. Nut jobs are everywhere, but never more prevelant than on MBs.

Cause if the Pats win the Chargers are clearly the second best team in the league this year.

I remember the law school threat, not as valid as Elway's threat to play baseball. Here in Philly they are PAts fans, only because they hate NY and the Giants.

The funny thing is we now have respect for Rivers for his gutsy performance and they have lost their respect for LDT for being a whiney cry baby. We as Patriots – Chargers fans have met in the middle.

The people around here don't like the Pats.

But they have a HATRED for Eli Manning and the way he and his daddy dissed the city in the draft.

San Diego wants the Pats to win because they couldn't bear watching Eli win a trophy.

Yeah, if they were Charger fans. "Fahr owt, duuuude." The big problem with finding solid NFL fans in San Diego is they they are transplants from other cities and are fans of teams other than the Chargers. When the Raiders were in LA, there were more Raider fans than CHarger fans in the seats. Chargers had to instutite special rules for buying tickets to the Raider game to restrict thier ticket buying.

Chargers are a decent team. Their fans are, as you said, friggin idiots.

Don't blame them.

Big problem was the Chargers ended up with Rivers. Yeah, he has the heart of Jim Plunkett, but not the passing ability. And he has less stability than Ryan Leaf.

Chargers should not have drafted Eli, and if they were stupid enough to do so, should have called his bluff. Yeah, Eli was going to forsake the NFL. Fourth round draft choices can, first pick in the draft? Never.

I'm living in San Diego right now and I can tell you that many do not wan to see us win. This has become one of the better rivalries in the league. It should be interesting next year when the Pats come this way. By the way, if anyone is planning on going to the game PM me.

Charger fan here. I know I can't speak for everyone (charger fans), however, my reasons for rooting for the Pats are as follows:

1) Complete & utter disdain for Eli
2) Want Seau to get his ring - even though it will be as a Patriot, seriously, nobody deserves it more.
3) If Pats win, I can find some comfort in the fact we lost the AFCCG to the best team.
4) Seeing history be made at 19-0, even though it's not my team, is still pretty cool and something I may never experience again.

&

5) Media. I am so sick and tired of the media, bashing the Pats, bashing the Chargers, bashing everyone for no good reason other than to increase ratings so they can collect more advertising $$. Spygate, LT, the list goes on and on. What happened to the days where we used to celebrate great teams and great players??? This year is the worst I've ever seen it. Time to make them shut the F**k up.

I live in SD and have observed more people pulling for the Pats because of their hatred for Eli and love for Seau. It really doesn't matter. If the Pats weren't in it I would have a hard time rooting for either the Chargers or a NY team.
