Interesting article and, in a technical sense, well written. But what's with the barely contained, man-do-the-rich-love-themselves-or-what sneer from the reporter? Curiously, while he cites from the get go how the modeling business is awash in cruel and relentless judging, he condescendingly snickers at several of her remarks as if it's necessary to remind you he's smart enough to see that Gisele is ultimately some ultra-wealthy ding bat we're all to stupid to see through. Maybe it's true that the NYT hates all rich who don't hate themselves. I wouldn't have agreed with that for the most part until reading this piece. It's like the reporter is pissed he couldn't prove Gisele is another self absorbed diva. She can't just be the driven, amped up beauty who grabbed hold of her life and insisted on living it. There must be some kind of essential flaw, the reporter seems infer, and we'd be all the luckier if we could figure out exactly what it is.
