Just saw him say this on TV. They were set to take him with the 61st pick..

yes sounds like it, mayby thats the one they was ready to move up for?

Saw that also. Damnnnnnnn!!!!! Imagine a year from now a LB corps of Hightower, Collins, and Smith. That would have been epic.

Meh. I'm comfortable with the "safety" picks that they are making thus far.

I raised that question on the draft board, and was roundly criticized.. thought it would have been a good move .

There were 26 picks between the player drafted and what he's saying. Unless he has a info that NE was angling to move into the 30's to snag him, this is not a story. They end up trading 61 but they would have been willing to use it on a guy who was drafted at 34.

"Team would have drafted player drafted waaaaay ahead of their pick." What am I missing here?

When they spoke to Rap on NFL network Rap said the expectation in the league was that if he got by Dallas (Cowboys Doctor did the surgery) he was gonna fall far and the Pats would have stopped the fall and taken him at 61.

Rapaport throwing ******** at the wall.

There was still 25+ picks to go. There's no way of knowing if another team would've grabbed him.

Crap report from Crapsheet.

Imagine the fallout on here had that happened? I'm surprised there's been little criticism of the pick as it happens, at least I've not seen much. Smith might never play again. Had the injury not happened though, I believe he'd have been a top 5 pick.

I actually believe this report.

BB has a fantastic professional and personal relationship with ND coach Brian Kelly. I dont know if its an every year thing, but there was one year Kelly asked BB to come to ND and spend a few days going through film, and evaluate the whole ND football program. From players all the way to the coaches. BB has a lot of information on that program..

So for Dallas, a team with many glaring holes in its roster, to use a high second on a player many thought would fall to day 3 that early, and most likely will miss the 2016 season, probably thought the Pats at some point would have traded up in the 2nd to get him.

Also something to note, BB is apart of the panel that picks the Butkas award winner (best LB in college football)... The 2015 winner of the award was Jaylon Smith.

I hear they were high on Jared Goff as a developmental QB prospect and were set to take him at #61 until the Rams scooped him up.

So ...... Uhhhh ..... The sua cravens report was ********? Cuz they weren't drafting them both

Ya...... I'm thinking deforest Buckner and jalen Ramsey were in the same boat

I never understood the "BB is best buddies with the coach" therefore the Pats must want that coach's players. I guess BB and Urban Meyer are on the outs given that BB bypassed 12 Buckeyes draftees.
And given Dallas's early 2nd round selection of Smith, IMO, Dallas had far bigger worries than a team (NE) that would struggle to secure even one partial impact player for the 2016 season given their deflategate misfortunes. Would be BB really make a quantum leap in the draft using a bevy of their picks to secure a physical question mark?
Rappaport just spewing conjecture that can never be proven wrong, IMO. Since when do these kind of leaks filter out of Foxborough draft weekend? Maybe 6 months from now. Rappaport creating "filler" to pretend to be relevant.
