How Bad Are Our Running Backs?

Uninspiring at best. Lewis is not exactly sturdy health-wise and Blount is also coming off of injury. White is one dimensional, can't run, and telegraphs what the offense is doing to the defense, and Donald Brown blows a fat one.

And they may be without Brady for those first four games... having a solid running game is gonna be crucial if our backup QB is playing.

They really like Reynolds, supposedly. They may view him as the change of pace back they need. I hope they're not going to cash in all of their chips on him, though.

Williams is still on the board. I wouldn't mind seeing the Pats call his name.

I agree with your analysis.

The thread title is a consequence of all the calls for a 2nd or 3rd round RB and a second later, and the idea that 2 rookies would likely make the 53.

Terrible thread title. RB is not a big need. The Patriots don't have that type of offense, and when there's a weakness that can be exploited, the Patriots have a group that brings a bit of everything.

Blount, Lewis, White, Deevelin, Brown is a solid, experienced group. We'll probably see a 6th rounder in the mix as well.

The O-Line is the big need. The running game is as dependent on the offensive live as is the passing game. Put the right line in there and this offense is loaded.

They must be in love with Gaffney and he could be dirt cheap as a spot player because they just passed on Devontae Booker, who I cannot believe is still on the board.

Those are my thoughts as well. They have paid him for two years for absolutely nothing at this point. There has to be a reason for that. He did have outstanding measurables at the combine and was a productive college player.

No one knows who is being shopped to other teams, I'd bet there are 5 RBs available for a late pick if we wanted it. But I don't think we do, my thought is that they have always had one eye on next years excellent group.. plus you could argue we are better right now than we were this time last year when the majority didn't know what Lewis was bringing to the table.

You guys do realize Booked, Dixon, hassan ridgeway, Sheldon day, Andrew billings, Alex collins, and many more "binkies" are still available to start the 4th right? Im slightly dissapointed with how the draft went so far too but hey there is still hope to salvage it
I never understand why people think good picks are the ones Mel Kiper, et all overvalued compared to the NFL teams that have scouting departments working for a year to evaluate these players, and decision makers who know more about football.
I would venture to say the guy who 'fell' is the farthest thing from a steal, he is the guy who was severely overrated by people who know less than the ones who are doing the drafting.

What is Lewis bringing to the table this year?

I think as long as we address the O-Line this draft our running backs will do well. But if the O-Line is total garbage not even Ezekiel gonna save us. A good O-Line is going to take you far in this league.

It's a pretty good bet that Arian Foster will be considered at some point.

It is okay. Workable. You just watch. Next year the Pats will get a RB you are gonna fall in love with. The class next year is really good.

I'm pissed. I think the team outsmarted themselves here. They needed to grab a decent RB and the ignored the need for a playmaker. Arrogant here....

Let's put it this way... When DionLewis & Blount went down, our "remaining" RBs were junk.

Without a running-game, the AFC championship game results will happen, again...

Ridley might be odd man out in NY. If he removes his tattoo with a meat saw I'll welcome him back with open arms.

We've added Gaffney, Brown and Develin to last year's group. Maybe this will be of some help. If not, Belichick will sign or trade for another veteran.

Which team's RB situation wouldn't suffer if you take the two top guys out.
