As much as I hated seeing Manning (one of the worst QBs in the league) ride his terrific defense to a title, I thought about how it must drive someone else even more crazy........that's right....Wes Welker.

Obviuosly Wes was a 'little giant' who made a living catching passes over the middle where the big boys live. He showed a tremendous amount of toughness, but never won a Super Bowl.

That's right, most of his years were spent with Brady and Manning throwing him passes and yet he sadly went 0-3 in Super Bowls. The real kick in the face? Both teams won the Super Bowl within two years of him leaving.

Logan Mankins has his own pity story too. He was drafted in 2005 so he just missed the Pats 2004 title run and then he got traded away in training camp of 2014. Talk about bad luck.

Not only that, but his 8 catches for 84 yards that he got in Super Bowl 48 would have lead either team in Super Bowl 50. I won't say he "deserved" a ring, because I don't really believe in that kind of thing, but it does seem like if you took 100 alternate universes he would have at least one ring in about 99 of them.

He would have his ring if he didn't drop the most important pass of his career

if a practice squad player can get a ring, there should be some kind of "arrangement" by a team to certain players...

Why? Practice squad players actually practice and provide scout team assignments and actually offer something of substance.

Just to be clear, so you are saying that the Pats and/or Broncos should give Welker a ring?

I don't think it would be deserved and to be honest I don't think he'd want it either.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think in baseball they give rings to anyone who played for the team that year. Ie, a player doens't have to end the season on the team. Therefore, a player like Nomar was entitled to a ring in 2004. To me even THAT seems odd nevermind a player that didn't play for you at all during the year.

Wes could have been a patriot for life, but he walked away from the team, the team didn't walk away from him.

Yeah, and it makes you realizes just how loaded the team was in 2012.

It's crazy to think that Brady had all these weapons...........

Gronk
Welker
Hernandez
Edelman
Lloyd
Branch
Woodhead
Vereen

...of course I know that Gronk, Edelman, and Hernadez battled injuries at different times throughout the year.

That's also true in football, I believe.

I am curious - did Super Bowl 49 make Wes happy?

Yet, according to many fans on here: "Tawmmy nevah haz teh weaponz"

I know he played through some ridiculous injuries, but Mankins sure made his own luck. He was absolutely destroyed in a bunch of elimination games. Twice against the Giants, against the Ravens, against the Jets, against the Broncos in 2013.

He couldn't handle speed. Odd for a LT conversion, but they just ate him up. Who knows what role injuries played, but it must have been a consistent problem for him because Dr. Z predicted Tuck would eat him up in his SB 42 preview article.
