OT: Cam Newton & the race card

Sounds like they're a solid advocate for gay marriage.

I know you're kidding, but the times I heard it they were talking about race. The last time it was an Irish man giving advice to another Irish man about his daughter getting married.

lol p much sums it up

reminds me of very similar behavior w/the sbux red cup outrage

The same thing occurred with Tebow. The people complaining about the Tebow followers far outnumbered the actual followers.

What exactly is some of the "racist ****" people have said here?

I said I hated Mike Greenberg and called him "Green Goony"..also called him the greater of the two morons on Mike + Mike on ESPN.

That got me labeled as a racist Jew hater...immediately by Mr. Fixit.

Seems I can hate the NY Jets but if I also hate one of their biggest media rumpswabs, I'm a disgusting bigot and racist. Seems fair...

Political leanings are very different from political actions, which Hillary and Obama take, as opposed to someone who simply voices an opinion without actually doing anything.

Did Bush inspire the same kind of hatred inspires in people? Probably more.

I don't recall Bush being accused of America-hating treason, the way Obama is, or of murdering his friends, which is a charge levied at Clinton.

I'm not sure how this all got to this point, but as someone who is late to the party, so to speak, I'd say this is far uglier than anyone ever intended it to become. Just speaking for myself, I hope it ends soon. There are loads of people here for whom I have enormous respect, but this deserves to be stopped immediately. Just my take and just an opinion.

Well, Bush was often referred to as Hitler by liberals… I don't know, was Hitler bad?

They would have said that about any autocratic torturer who violated the Bill of Rights, the Geneva Conventions, and general human decency.

Somehow, the 6 million Jews and all that are seen as secondary when judging the aptness of Hitler comparisons. Equating Bush to Hitler was bad use of language, more than it was a serious accusation of him being as bad as Hitler REALLY was.

What's more -- the number of Americans who think Obama is a treasonous atheist commie Muslim far exceeds the number who equated Bush to Hitler.

That is just a horrendous post.

Rooting for Carolina is really a 'pick your poison' situation for me. They are the lesser of two evils (mainly BECAUSE of Newton). But I just can't root for Manning under any circumstances, and so I'm forced to root for CAR. Otherwise, I agree, I find his celebratory BS obnoxious. And the ripping Packers/Seahawks flags pisses me off to no end.... imagine if Brady pulled **** like that....
Imagine if some Broncs fans hung up Broncos banners at Gilette.

I have a question.

If a person wants their children to "marry their own kind" does that make that person a racist?
Unless "their own kind" means human then of course that is racist. Racism is identifying and defining an individual by his race.

Too factual for you?

(Except, of course, for the "atheist Muslim" hyperbole ...)
You're embarrassing yourself, but I'm too tired to dismantle it tonight. Tomorrow. Give you a chance to walk it back a little.

Not necessarily, it depends on their intention and reasoning behind the wish. Sociological studies have confirmed that couples from like backgrounds (racially/culturally/economically/educationally) have the most stable, longest-lasting marriages.

Russell Wilson is annoying as hell. Lets stop acting like hes the bastion of 'good' black quaterbacks. He's seriously one of the most irritating people in the league.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Cam's celebrations. If you dont like them you're part of the problem that has made this league the No Fun League and why spiking the ball a little too close to someone will get you a 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Stop being grumpy old men. He's young out there having fun. And yes Tom does the same thing. He doesn't have a specific celebration but acts just as dumb and goofy when they score as the rest of them (running, screaming, jumping up and down, piggybacking teammates). Let them ****ing have a little fun for gods sake.

I didn't read this entire thread. No idea how you all ended up arguing politics. I just wanted to say that and I'm done.

How is Wilson "annoying" and Newton's "lookie ME" display behavior isn't? Perhaps you should stop watching the No Fun League and find something that's more entertainment/less sporting event. The reason Newton's self-aggrandizing antics irritate people is because they detract from football's inherent team-first orientation. If you paid any kind of attention you'd realize that Brady's celebrations almost always involve his teammates and Newton's almost always just himself. Grumpy old men? Maybe you should stop being a flaky li'l whelp. ;)

In simplest form (with all the inaccuracy that oversimplification suggests):
  • General positive or negative inclination toward somebody is not affected be race.
  • Vehemence of the inclination is.
Example: The people who froth at the mouth and hate Obama wouldn't like him even if he were white. But their hatred might not be as strong.

Well.....not sure what to say about your reply. Is it condescending? Possibly. Is it a representation of your elitist world? Possibly. Do I admire your command of the english language? Absolutely and I actually envy it.

I will respond from my "simplistic" world view.

I think it's clear that a racist would hate Obama more than a non racists.

I don't think a non racists would hate Obama's politics more simply because he is black.

I don't think that the voting results support your statement of, "But the venomous hatred directed at them far exceeds what's been shown for any white male politician of similar leanings.". Unless you are simply stating that a racist white or a misogynistic guy (I guess you are combining the two ) will hate the president's policies more because he is black (or a women) which I would then consider a redundant statement.

Anyways, thank you for your reply.
