How long does it take you to get past a big loss

Personally for me, the SB win last year relieved all of the stress and anxiety for me. I REALLY wanted Brady to get that 4th ring. Once he did, I feel like anything he does past this point is just gravy, though the losses still sting.

To help me feel better, I am finally going to sit down this week and watch Super Bowl 49 in its entirety. I was at the game and have yet to actually watch my DVR recording of it.

I like to check in for a few days after to make sure the refs didn't discover any more points that they forgot to give the Patriots during the game, but am done after that.

From 2006 to when we won the super bowl last year the losses hurt a lot more for me. Knowing Brady's window was closing and having to continue to hear we haven't won since stupid spygate. With obviously 2007 being the worst, don't think I will ever be over that. I still look away when they play high lights and I no longer like Tom Petty. That one just sticks with you. I was actually depressed there for like a month I think lol.

But coming off the SB win and with all the injuries, I was over it Monday morning. Losing to the forehead was the worst of it, but they will be back strong again next year. Can't wait!!

Wow I thought I was the only one who went from a Petty fan to never being able to listen to him again.

Usually a long time, but this season not so much, I am still riding the high of last year Super Bowl plus the injuries were too much in my opinion. I am content with where we got it, it was painful, but I was over the next day. Well except I don't Cannon and Flemming back? I was pissed of with Vollmer, but I remembered that he had a high ankle strain that we all seems to have forgotten.

Its getting more difficult every year as Brady continues to get older and the reasonable expectation of how long he has left continues to diminish. But usually March when FA starts. Except in cases like 2009 or 2013 when it was obvious that we really didn't have much of a chance to win it all. That's easier to get past.
Right, this is where I'm at too. The big thing for me is how old Brady is. He's going to be 39 at the start of next season. I mean I hate to say this, but look at what happened with Peyton Manning. Manning had a historic 2013 season, and yet by this season he was completely washed up. He basically went from one of the elite quarterbacks to one of the worst in the blink of an eye. I know Brady keeps himself in pristine shape, but one hit could irreversibly change his career. Knock on wood, of course...

We'll see how it plays out. Sometimes I think I'm drinking the kool aid when I believe him when he says he'll play til he's 45.

Until the superbowl and i hope the panthers win by a wide margin. Denver's home field is a huge advantage. It's gonna be neutral. There might be alot more donkeys fans since it's much closer.

I think the way they handled the last couple of weeks was awful and it hangs in your mind. What if.

All i know is, either the panthers or the broncos fans are going to feel worse than we do in 2 weeks. To relief the pain i suggest watching the Butler interception again.

By far what pisses me off the most is the fact we shouldn't have been playing in denver to begin with. I know I keep beating a dead horse by god damnit it pisses me off. Had home field wrapped up and u toss it away like unneeded garbage.

I'm sure they would have done some things differently if they had the chance.

I'm not sure how the SB would have went with the way the O line was playing.

To be completely honest, I was never really upset about the loss because I never once thought we would win the game. I am usually upset after a loss if I expected us to win. Weird stuff happens to us in Denver, regardless of who is out there playing for Denver and I am never confident of going there. The 30-24 loss in OT was just a prime example of how we are just cursed when we play in Denver. TB12 very rarely looks like TB12 in Denver and always seems very nervous. That HFA is one of the best, if not the best in the league with the altitude factor and the very loud crowd noise.

I am dreading the thought of having to play them in Mile High AGAIN next season with that defense anticipating the silent count again :(

Still not over SB 42. This one is different. We won it last year. We put up a good fight, and frankly got so unequivocally outplayed by their defense I don't have any feeling that the better team lost. Denver deserved that win. I'm still a little bummed, but not as big of a loss.

Nothing will be like SB42, nothing will get me over that.

Takes me a long ****ing time to get over a loss, especially a loss like this one where ONE PLAY could have won the game. I keep thinking if Vollmer didn't get completely abused on that 2 pt conversion Brady has an extra split second and likely finds a better option than forcing it to Edelman....
This year it is even worse because Pats had their first round pick stolen...

wonder if they'll still have the draft soiree down at jonathan city....people pay big bucks to watch the Patriots NOT have a first rounder...

at least a week, it bothers me that it bothers me so much.

Brutal losses like Super Bowls XLII and XLVI took weeks to get over. I was over this weekend's loss by Monday.

I'd say it takes me until the next SB win to get over a SB loss and until the next season to get over a playoff exit.

This loss felt different to me than other losses (2007, 2010, 2011, 2012) in the sense that I didn't feel like we were the superior team that had gotten screwed by fate. We were clearly the worse team on Sunday, and the fact that we fought until the end made me more proud than anything; I think I was only really sad for about 10 minutes after the game ended. Of course I'm a little bummed that I won't get to see the Pats play meaningful football until September, but after Malcolm Butler's interception, everything that happens for the rest of Brady/Belichick's careers is just gravy.

I will say the refs had no bearing on this game and that's one "good" thing for me because I know if we played like that and had another ref job like the first time in Denver..i would be even worse. So it being fair there made it a bit better

I was over it almost immediately. The only bad part is I'll be in CA next week and was toying with the idea of roadtripping to the game. In retrospect they probably would have lost and cost me thousands of dollars. So I've got that going for me.

I think that's why I am so bummed about this. Because we were going to go to the SB if they made it. That's #1 on my bucket list and will be until I do it (hopefully next year) So obviously being that close to something you have always wanted sucks

I had to call the airline after the game and cancel hotel ect and that sucked a great deal

Damn that does suck. At least I was playing it by ear since I'll be in CA close enough to drive anyway. But just think if you had flown all the way out there, dropped like $10k and they got crushed...
