He is downright horrible, he can't do anything without talent, he makes bad decisions and he has no leadership skills, I consider him a bust. Only reason he has a decent record is because he currently plays in one of worst divisions in the NFL.

Right now he seems to be between a bust and a bust (Canton).

Actually, he shows lots of potential and isn't a completed product. He could definitely make better decisions, but all QBs can only do so much without talent/offensive linemen/system taking advantage of their strengths.

That last part being essential and falls to coaching. Also, he needs to work on his game and keep improving.

The only reason Luck is a "bust" is because the front office and coaching staff are not putting him in a position to succeed. I do think he is the type of QB talent that comes around every 2-3 years like the Rodgers, E. Manning, Rapistburgers, etc of the world. (This does NOT mean that he is at their level, but merely that he has the raw potential to be. There are several players that I think fall into that category but got personal or team reasons never achieve that level. )

If Luck was taught ball security from the beginning and given pieces he needs to succeed, I think we would be a lot more worried about the Colts. However, they have created a "juvenile chase the records" club in Indy and have set the expectation that 1-2 picks a game are okay.

If he had a "McDaniels type" coach or some type of coach known for developing quartebacks he might do better, but the failure to do so and not surround him with a really good offensive line impedes his progress..

It is difficult to tell what his limits are as he is on a bad team..

Not a bust yet, but needs to elevate his game a lot.

With the Colts not in even the playoffs this thread is way OT.

Well if he is a bust how do we label Mariota, Winston, etc.. who didn't make the playoffs in their first seasons?

Luck is OK, he clearly has some issues he needs to improve but his achievements so far exclude him from the bust club. I think he will always have problems with ball security and so far no indications of how clutch he is but he can be a dominant QB in the NFL.

Lol, you had me for a second there. Nice try!

Ian needs to institute a training program for forum noobs ... at the very least require them to wear training pants and a bib.

I recall reading an article early in the season that stated Luck still has a problem with pre-snap reads and calling audibles at the LoS.

Thats the very first thing BB/JMD/Weis teach here. Figure out what a bad play looks like before learning what good plays are.

Maybe post only in a specific sub forum. Some name recommendations: The jumparoo, The high chair, The crib, The playpen.

If you measure a QB by whether he "wins," he led his team to 11 wins and the playoffs in each of his first three seasons. His Pass Rating (an admittedly questionable metric) increased each year. He's 3--3 in the Playoffs (including in the infamous AFCCG last year), where he's thrown more picks than TD's. He was hurt this year but had a couple of 300 yard games before he finally went down.

So, that's not a "bust" by any measure, but it's also not a ticket to Canton. He could probably benefit from a lot better coaching; people forget that a young Peyton Manning had Bruce Arians working with him.

Sometimes the transition from the College Game to the Pro Game is much more than we give credit for..

RG III, for example, wonder if he could have done better in another system that had realistic expectations of him.. would not like to see him wind up on the Bills or Jets, but not sure if they have the aptitude to develop him into an NFL QB..

Its a good question. I still have hope for RGIII. He had a pretty decent year under Shanny in 2012. That knee injury really derailed him.

As mentioned hate to think of him either in Buffalo or on the NY Jets.. if they hired a really good qb coach it might change for him.

Yea. I thought Gruden was going to be good for him. West Coast offense and all.....but Cousins just grasped it better and faster.

Is the OP trolling? Luck isn't a bust. He makes some bad, gunslinger type of decisions from time to time but there are a lot of teams in the league that would kill to have him as their QB. His OL is pretty bad and the Colts have zero defense to work with. He's made strides every year he's been in the league, though. If their front office could put some talent in the two aforementioned areas, he could take them pretty deep in the playoffs.
