It isn't just about the injuries. Even with the losses we had today, we were still 10 point favorites and should have been an easy win against a 5-10 team. There are other issues at play here, and I hope they get corrected.
I agree with this 100%. Even with the injuries they should've beaten this team with ease. Miami was destroyed the last few games. Pats couldn't even get more than 10 points and 200 yards offense against a team giving up a ton of points.

Could only use injuries as a crutch for so long, they've definitely played like a team with ZERO confidence the last 6 weeks. Even with the return of some injured players, don't know if you can turn on that confidence switch. Of course win the first playoff game and that'll give the team all the confidence they need. Need that mojo back, it's completely gone at this moment.

Pretty sure this was when Edelman went down. He seems to be the lifeline of the team, once he went down we started to suck badly.

Another big plus is Brady will have two weeks to rest and recover from the cheap shot from Suh
hitting him low.
Don't care for Suh, but not a cheap shot on Brady.. Kline got beat so badly he face masked Suh into Brady!! Kline is horrible. The offensive line and injuries will be reason NE won't make a repeat!! The team is just to banged up and flat, I hate to see them limp into playoffs..

Watch the KC and Cincy games from last year. Compare and contrast.

I appreciate the positiveness, but my main concern is that will these guys who have missed consecutive weeks, be able to fire on all cylinders at the same time. I understand the negative Nancys concerns, but the positive Petes just assume that everything will work out fine once everyone comes back.

This is a one and done tournament, who's to say the offensive drought won't continue with less than 400 yards in the last two game. Who's to say that this line will be cohesive when some of these guys come back. This team hasn't played a GOOD game in 1 1/2 months. I can't imagine this team can just flip a switch and become the 2014 Pats. They aren't the 2-4 Pats we've seen the last 6 weeks, but somewhere in between will mean one and done, I hate to say it, but that's exactly what I see.

How'd that work out for Denver with Manning not playing in what 6 weeks? To suggest the addition of Vollmer, Edelman, Amendola (healthier) and Jones, Hightower and whoever else is dinged up right now getting healthier won't make the Pats a better team than what we have seen the last few weeks is to deny reality. I understand they won't be the team that opened up 10-0 but I have to believe they will be closer to that team than the one that we have seen the last few weeks. Time will tell.

the only thing i would not like to see
is getting beaten at SB by Seattle

I really am worried about Brady and how he's going to practice with a bad ankle.

Calm tf down peeps.

The following people will more than likely be ready in 2 weeks:

Offense
  • Starting Tackle (Vollmer)
  • Starting Guard (Kline)
  • Backup Tackle (Waddle)
  • Starting WR (Edelman - Pro-Bowler, #1 Target)
  • Starting WR2 (Amendola - Closer to 100%)

Defense
  • Starting ROLB (Hightower - Borderline-Pro Bowl Player)
  • Starting RE (Jones - Pro-Bowler, Sack Leader)
  • Starting Safety (McCourty - Pro-Bowler, Closer to 100%)
  • Backup CB (Coleman)

Not to mention REST for Brady (who has been getting killed), the rest of the OL, Gronk, Amendola.

Just chill out, we are the #1 or #2 seed in the NFL playoffs (again). We will be fine.

You're totally right, and this is a good post and worthwhile thread all around, but I also think it's fair to suffer from a bit of chicken little-itis after today. The last two weeks were bad enough to warrant legitimate concern, independent of everything else.

3rd and long.... Draw play..... 3 rd and long, draw play...... 3 rd and long, draw play..... Anyone see a pattern? Watched 3 other games today, both teams in each game, THREW on 3 rd and long for the yardage needed. Didn't always pick it up but did more than half. Care to explain why the patriots refuse to try to pick up first downs like that and personel is not an excuse. They lost today and last week because they tried to run the ball, and continued well after is was evident it would NOT work......PATHETIC!!!!

Seattle did EXACTLY what was needed to be a key factor in the playoffs, got hot at the right time. They have everything they need to get back to the SB, a very good to great defense, a great running game (doesn't seem to matter who runs the ball), a good QB, Wilson had his best season ever, a veteran team that knows how to win in the playoffs, and they finished REALLY strong. Playing with an incredible amount of confidence.

I'd be surprised if the don't represent the NFC in the SB. I think they can beat Arizona or Carolina with no problem.

I'm kind of excited because its a possibility that based on how the Pats have been playing the past couple months some might underestimate the Pats and play too soft before its too late and get snuffed.

As bad as we have been playing. Getting the 2 seed may actually work out better for us. Is this scenario far fetched? Pitt beats Cincy. Houston beats KC. Next round Pats beat Houson and Pitt beats Denver.
That happens and nobody remembers us losing to Miami. Of course we need to get healthy and play better, but the truth is the AFC is as weak as it has ever been, and the road to the Super Bowl may be easier at the 2 seed than the 1.

Relax? We're 2-4 in our last 6 games, this is an alarming pattern of pass protection so bad the offense can't function at all.

Are you sure you're from the same country as William Wallace?

"You bled with Wallace....will you bleed with Brady?"

Brady was limping in the press conference, so playing conservative didn't work. Hopefully in the next game we actually play to win.

Remember how after the KC game the Pats' OL suddenly became good? At this point, I think I'm just hoping (but not necessarily optimistic) for that.

Pointing out fact has nothing to do with how long I've been here. Season tickets since 84, more then qualified to point out crap when I see it!!

I think this could go either way. I truly don't have a good feel for which it will be : a return of key players pushing a tough team to glory or a missed chance of a potentially special season.

Luckily the bye helps and the team is full of "been there" types who also have skill.
