Doug Kyed on what he'd do with Garoppolo if the Pats plan to extend Brady

You clearly haven't watched Jimmy G hold on to the ball forever not knowing what the hell he is doing against preseason 3rd stringer competition.

Obviously, it alarmed them so much that they went out and grabbed a QB for the PS to groom to compete with him. . . .

I like the way you list 8 teams and pretend that's the whole of the league. Plus, he could easily play ahead of Bortles given a fair chance. Bortles is awful.

He could or should play ahead of Gabbert. McKown, Manziel, Kaepernick, Hoyer, Cassel. If Chicago had any sense, they'd grab him and dump Cutler.

What exactly did he do to piss you off? Sleep with your wife?

I listed 8 teams in the AFC. I left out the AFC East because I already went over them. I left out the Bucs because they have a #1 draft pick.

I covered essentially the entire conference. Jimmy G isn't a starter int he AFC unless he goes to a dumpster fire. Sorry, but that's the truth.

Watch the games.

He wouldn't start for anyone not named Houston or Cleveland.

Blake Bortles > Jimmy G.

Joe Flacco > Jimmy G

Andrew Luck > Jimmy G

Andy Dalton > Jimmy G

Ben Roethlisberger > Jimmy G

Marcus Mariota > Jimmy G.

Derek Carr > Jimmy G

Phillip Rivers > Jimmy G

Oh, maybe the Chiefs would throw us a 3rd for him… maybe.

He's a back up QB for basically everyone who isn't in a state of complete disaster at QB.

Pretending he is the heir apparent to the GOAT is delusional beyond words.
Such anger. I bet they keystrokes were loud enough that your parents could hear them all they way upstairs.

Sorry, but you're wrong.

Slap the tag on Jimmy Grapes....Probably somewhere in the $21-22 mil range by 2018....Hmmmm.... sounds like a great idea Doug.

That's just a stupid thing to say.

He's almost certainly the 2d best QB in the AFC East behind Brady.

Based on what? His only real game was against Buffalo last season and it was a total fail. I like Garrapolo but the idea of getting rid of Brady to start him is as stupid as it gets. Seriously, you would have to be borderline brain dead to even think it made sense.

We've got to be realistic...no one is giving a #1 pick for Cassel.

I've given the situation some thought and I wouldn't rule out BB moving past Brady even if he could get another two or three years from him. If BB thinks Cassel is the future would you trade away 10+ years of more winning if you were right for just two or three more?

Of course not. That's not good business?

If BB thinks Cassel is the future, that decision might get made.

Sorry, I'm having flashbacks.........?

Actually what's "bad business" is getting rid of the best player in football right now and the best player in the history of the game period. This is exactly the kind of crap that was discussed when Cassel replaced Brady, it's idiotic.

Nothing personal UK but the "trade Brady " stuff is absolutely ridiculous.

Brady is going to be 33 soon and they went 11-5 with Cassel, Belichick would be crazy not to trade an injured Brady while he can..............

The conversation isn't about getting rid of Brady to start JG or anything like that.
And it's based on the other QBs in the AFCE being warmed over dog crap.

I can't think of many things that would cause me to stop supporting the Patriots but trading Brady is absolutely one of them, firing Belichick would be the other.

You must have some of the participants on ignore n then because that's exactly what I'm reading and responding to.

Trade Brady because grap may be the future? Really? Some of you really over rate players that have not done anything or maybe had one good game.

The way you'd maximize value would be to move either Brady or JAG with the next Patriots coordinator to get a head coaching gig, be it after this year or next.

No doubt he takes care of his body like nobody else which is why I'm saying three year minimum window at this level although Young was still playing at a really high level at 38 before his hit and so was Warner at the same age. Still neither looked like Brady does right now. Montana took his big hit at 34 and it took him two years to get back. Once he did he was very good but not the same player.

Agreed it's less likely with Tom due to his regiment and the difference in the rules that doesn't mean you put all your eggs in a 38 year old basket even if the basket looks like it's 28.

Not saying we'd do that, but the way Brady is playing and assuming nothing happens, I think he has two more good years in him and is capable of playing at a high level until 40, at least.

The problem with that is Garo is already 24, right now. What I'm hoping is that he and his agent are smart enough to take a deal to stay in town for another two years rather than risk it with a franchise where the owner, GM, and HC are not on the same page. This is such a difficult offense to learn that I'd rather Garo stay in town for another two years than take the risk and start over again with a new QB.

However, I wouldn't blame Garo if he becomes antsy about not playing anytime soon.

The good thing is that BB has intentionally played very little of him and when he has, the offense has been pretty vanilla, so Garo's market value has been forcibly depressed. He's not going to find a great deal out there with so little of his NFL game on tape.

I think he (rochrist), and some others, are just assuming TB rides off into the sunset....Then is a simple choice, who Starts: JAG or a rookie draftee. But it is only if you assume TB is still going strong that Makes this thread interesting/a challenge to answer.

Brady is playing the best football of his career, he's in exceptional shape, and he is clearly motivated, I can't think of any reason he won't continue to play another four to five seasons at a minimum. There's no way Garrapolo is going to want to sit for six to seven seasons before getting his chance, he's chomping at the bit already and routinely has his helmet on in fourth quarters hoping he will get some snaps. Move him to make up for the theft of their first in there coming draft and then start grooming another and see how they do.

Well judging by tonight, whatever else, it's clear that the NY and Buffalo are both set at QB for the next 10 years!

A fan, sometimes also called aficionado or supporter, is a person who is enthusiastically devoted to something or somebody, such as a band, a sports team, a genre, a book or an entertainer. Collectively, the fans of a particular object or person constitute its fanbase or fandom. They may show their enthusiasm in a variety of ways, such as by promoting the object of their interest, being members of a fan club, holding or participating in fan conventions, or writing fan mail. They may also engage in creative activities ("fan labor") such as creating fanzines, writing fan fiction, making memes or drawing fan art. Sometimes they even think they can get a second round draft pick for Jimmy Garoppolo. Stupid dimwits! I mean, Get real! He's not even the second best QB in the AFCE... You don't know ****.

First class QBing all the way tonight!
