This kid is good, the only issue so far are the fumbles, but I was watching some Gronk highlights from the opener yesterday and in that play he recovered the fumble, I saw the fumble from a different camera, in front of Dion, he was a little reckless during the play but in the last moment he brought the ball to his biceps and his arm glued to his body, it was just a heck of a play from the Pittsburgh player, he shoved his hand in there and stripped the ball with brutal force. Could not do it better.

Question: if Lewis just gets better through the season and turns out to be a kick ass contributor in 2015, does he still retain vet minimum? Or is there some mechanism to comp him more?

(Besides the SB 50 ring, of course)

I'd like to ask @Miguel , I'm sure he's talked about this in other threads, but what does the cap outlook look like for next offseason?

Agreed. Jones is a good player, and losing him would hurt, but he's more replaceable than Hightower or Collins. Those guys are both physical freaks; you just don't see guys with their measurables coming out of college, and their mental game is on point considering that they're both signal-callers.

I agree with your general point, but regarding that 2012 draft, Jones was the physical freak with the unknowable ceiling and Hightower was the steadier known commodity.

Looks like they found the perfect replacement for Vereen, this kid makes the catches, is very elusive after the catch gaining more yards and he can run. And James White is still on cheap rookie contract for a few years.

#3rd down back - Checked

As for the money, seems ok to me, he was out of the league a couple months ago and it's not like Belichick found gold, he is, as usual, taking the most out of a player knowing his strengths and weakness, if Dion is smart he knows he would have a hard time finding a job around the league if not for this opportunity and even after a good season, he is working in this system. It's not certain it would work in different teams and he most likely would be another RB rotating around the league for a back end of a roster.

He has tweeted several times that we are in fine shape next year and should have no problem extending Chandler Jones, Hightower and Collins as long as they agree on value. We may have to move a few players (Mayo, Amendola) to be in really good cap space but Miguel has stated the cap isn't an issue next year.

Very nice signing. I like what the kid brings to the position a lot.

What a discount knowing Dion Lewis could have gotten a heck of alot more in the offseason. Lewis is a player that is just not all about the $$$$ think about the endorsements that comes with being a Patriot. The Tom Brady/DionLewis combo reminds me of the Jim Kelley/Thurman Thomas combo lethal!

It seems they are not terribly concerned about the fumbles. That is a good sign from a FO that is right about this stuff as much as any team in the league.

Dion Lewis hasn't fumbled in exactly Two weeks;) all signs points up.

Love it. First back we've had in a while who has the ability to regularly make something out of nothing

That is wonderful. Upgraded vereen and saved money, great move. Most important lewis is ours for at least 3 full seasons.

Hallelujah!!!! I was really worried about him departing in the offseason and the team being back at square one with finding a third down back. I'm so happy he's extended and even happier that it's at such a low cost.

Wonder if we can bring in a few guys next offseason as well.

Not many players think like that Today, the man in grateful and a class act.
Wow you never see that these days. He will quickly become a fan favorite if he keeps up his level of play and his demeanor.

My goodness.

LOVE the attitude of the players on the New England Patriots.

After having to hear the crap from Greg Hardy, the Buffalo Loudmouth Losers, etc.

The Patriots are on a DIFFERENT CONTINENT.

There is a reason why our team is on a 15 year roll.
