Point Blank: if this ends poorly are you done with football?

The whole thing has been disgusting, and to be honest--even though I would never stop supporting the team under any circumstances, I can respect your personal decision if you think you've had enough. It's supposed to be an enjoyable distraction from real life problems, a way to relax and enjoy some quality entertainment. Being a fan isn't supposed to be a major headache, unless you're a JAX fan. This whole thing has been ********.
Well said

I keep watching this train wreck of a court drama unfold. I want to look away but I cannot. I need to see how it ends. Good or Bad.

I have stopped going to BSPN.com. I will continue to support TFB and BB. I will not support other teams. I lived for 12-years in Philly and used to support them as my NFC team. No longer.

When Tom hangs em up I will be done. There are plenty of other better options for my Sunday activities.

I've regretfully accepted the fact that the fix was in since:

1) They chose to allow this ridiculousness to overshadow their main event/biggest sports event in the world with SB49

2) Pash's name was listed as co-investigator on their initial report, proving that it would be far from "independent."

3) They changed from their original choice of Columbia University to do the scientific study

4) They changed forensic analysis teams to Exponent, which also was not their original choice

5) They failed to reduce the suspension by even a single game, when most of the other suspensions are often reduced. Some are even reduced by 50% or more

AND FINALLY
:

6) They came hard at the NFL's golden boy with the "phone destruction" nonsense, solidifying their position and making sure that the entire world sided with them

This entire thing is shameful. However, going through it gave me a great appreciation for the fans of the NO Saints. Until now, never appreciated how damaging this Commissioner has been for so long. Goodell inappropriately ruined football in New Orleans. His behavior back then was as shameful as it is now.

You'll love it even if there are people in positions of real power with the ongoing means and motive to harm and hobble the Pats? How can you love a garden with diseased soil?

I seldom downvote posts, and only when ready to explain why.
I appreciate the straight-forwardness Wax and respect that. Long time posters are good like that.

I hate what's been going on as much as the next guy. That's why Lombardi #5 is going to taste so sweet.

I don't get Roger. All he has to do is stay in the backround quietly and guide the most popular sport in America and get paid a kings ransom while simply mitigating through minor issues all commisioners do. David Stern, Gary Bettman and Bud Selig all have had their share of detractors, but really never made it all about themself.

Instead of being like thatt Roger has to try and make it all about him. His youthfull impetiousness will catch up to him. Actually, it already has.

And oh yeah, :)

I'm not a lawyer, but if I were Ted Wells I'd have to refuse to answer the opening poster's question on the grounds of attorney-client privilege.

I don't get Roger.
I am quite willing to buy into the assertion that this is, in part, a joining in on revenge for the HC-of-the-NYJ resignation. "Waaah, it should have been us, waaah!!!"

Re: the Homer meme - I was wondering why it took you so long to reply :D

And yet if the Rats were really smart it most likely WOULD have been them.

Instead of succumbing to their hate and jealously of all things Boston, as well of an entitled attitude of believing that other teams should merely be farm teams of NY teams, and once a talent is developed, then the NY team will just buy the talent and move it to NY where it rightfully belongs, instead of tampering with and stealing Bill Parcells as he was getting ready to lead the Pats in their attempt to win their first Superbowl ever, all the Rats had to do was to wait until the Superbowl was over, and then respectfully ask the Pats to interview their DC, Bill Belichick, for the Rats HC position.

The Rats' arrogance is as advertised, but their intelligence, not so much.

Nope. I don't watch ESPN or the NFL network anymore, but I've stuck with the Pats through far worse times than these.

I'll admit that if Gronk, Edelman, etc. get pulled out of a key drives for capricious injury reasons by league officials I may stop watching.

It's not if, it's when. I predict it happens this year and benefits the opposition greatly.

I don't think I will stop watching the Patriots...I already care little about other teams unless it affects our playoff seeding or my fantasy team.

I think football without Goodell would be a much better spectacle than with him alive involved.
I would love to see the NFLPA organize a strike until the owners replace Goodell. I have decided I don't really like the owners...especially Mr. Kraft. I find him to be either disingenuous, or an idiot. I am not sure what I dislike more.

And I will never buy anything or pay for anything that supports the NFL directly. I'm in the process of dropping cable and will find some other way to watch the games.

If you live in the Patriots market you can always watch games via Over the air with an antenna depending on location and terrain. It's in HD. Of course I believe the broadcasters will still get money thru Nielsen ratings. But you wouldn't be paying them any money.

Maybe BB will start coaching college lacrosse like his daughter and I'll have found a new game to follow passionately.

I started watching some college Lacrosse on Big Ten and then I started to watch some NLL. I like watching the game. I prefer it over hockey. I'll definitely start watching some more now. Maybe even go to a game considering how cheap tickets are.

I'm sorry, but I have no respect for anyone here pining that they'll never watch football again if Tom doesn't win this case. All that says to me is you became a fan when they started winning and your really not a fan of the game of football in the first place. I doubt anyone who's making those statements are going to go down on a Friday night and support there local HS team instead of watching the NFL because you just love the game.

That's the sport in it's truest form. Kids who go to school and try to make the grade and play the game they love in their extra time. They don't get paid. The coaches don't make jack. We get so wrapped up in this multi-billion dollar industry that we forget why we watch in the first place. I'm not going to stop enjoying the game of football because my team doesn't win every time.

I'll never forget how proud I was when that '85 team got in as a WC and went on the road and beat the Jets, Raiders and Dolphins in succesion. We hadn't beaten Miami in the Orange Bowl in forever. Yeah, we got smoked in the SB. But they got there. '96 with Bledsoe and company. Should I sit here and write about how much I hate Parcells and blah, blah, blah? Sorry, I prefer to remember what a fun ride it was to get there.

Any of this talk of I'm done with football makes me SMH. It makes you sound like a spoiled thumb-sucking brat. The female posters who frequent this board have more (ahem) balls than most of you.

I'm a New England Patriot fan and I write that with pride. I don't jump ship and quit on my team when the water gets a little rough or some of our guys make mistakes. I still think Kraft is the greatest sports owner in New England history since Walter Brown (I'm sure many kids here have absolutely no idea who he was).

If your hell-bent on shunning football if Brady isn't totally exhonerated, then do the rest of us true fans a favor and post your vitriol elsewhere. It's nauseating.

It's just not very interesting to follow a fixed cheating league with no integrity. I feel like not watching anymore would be appropriate, but I haven't lost my feelings for the Patriots, which makes not watching very difficult.

Well, that's one viewpoint.

I will never...never stop watching my favorite team of all time and supporting them....

I will be at the home opener...bills and jets games....(so far)

The best player in the league is now suspended and defamed for doing absolutely nothing. If that doesn't count as fixing, cheating, and having no integrity I'm not sure what would.
I'd still watch if they went 0-16 in a fair league. If the league is unfair, winning isn't enough to overcome that.
I feel a bit experienced in this compared to most of you, because my 2nd favorite sports team of all time was the Sacramento Kings, and after they got screwed by a corrupt fixed league, I did actually stop watching it entirely.
I'm still undecided. I want to say I'm over it, but I keep coming back and I am having a hard time imagining not being all excited on opening day.

As someone who has been a fan since 1976, watched pretty much every televised NE game since then, and went to at least two games a year until my kid was born several years ago and who is in the "I'm done when Brady and BB are done", I will analogize...

It's like reading a long series of novels where plot lines and characters have come and gone and the quality of the novels are getting worse and the author is being more of a jerk but there's an interesting storyline that's almost wrapped up. So on balance you're done with the series but you want to see how the almost-done storyline is wrapped up before you give up on the series and stop reading.

Are you related to Gary Tanguay?
