Stephen A Smith: Brady's suspension to be upheld, Brady destroyed cell phone

Spin (read: lies) coming from the NFL's media arm, nothing more. No shame in Bristol...Sal Pal, Mort, Smith, their on-air 'personalities' calling Brady a liar. Just more of the same, and I'm sure this is a targeted release of 'information' coming ahead of a ruling (i.e. don't expect a reduction in the penalty, this is going to court). Much like everything else we've heard in this story it's either misinformation/spin or an outright lie.

It's incredible the length's the NFL will go to protect their own asses, zero integrity and honesty from a league that demands it from the stars that make them so much money. Brady's the best in the game, perhaps the best to ever throw a football in the league, and they'll roll right over him to protect their own asses. What a joke.

Well the NFL now knows it won't be held accountable by the public for false statements they release on the issue (see the Mort tweet), so why not? If the NFL was doing this to any other team, the public would be outraged.

The only time I'll turn in my phone is if I'm being accused of a serious crime. My phone is too personal.

Court it is.

The thing is how would anyone know Brady destroyed his cellphone? If he did, he certainly wouldn't have told Goodell that. Sounds like NFL spin for him refusing to give up the cell phone if the report is true.

Yeah, it literally makes no sense. If he wanted to destroy evidence, all he had to do was delete the messages. But since he didn't turn over the phone, why would he feel the need to delete anything?

Maybe he got a new phone, wouldn't the data (including texts) transfer over? If so, what evidence could possibly have been on the old one? A self-created video tutorial on how to remove air surreptitiously from a football?

I regrettably destroyed my cell phone a few months back in the washing machine.

Does it make me evil?

I'm a serial cell phone killer and have destroyed numerous phones over the last 5 years. They were all company phones and the president of my company has now strongly suggested that I utilize one of the protective casings - like Otter, but I've refused as I hate using protection..it just doesn't feel the same.

Sorry son, I realize that we found the murder victim alive, but you destroyed your phone so obviously you're guilty. You'll be executed at sunrise.

So they take this long to upheld the same punishment ?

I've heard SAS is a troglodyte who defends woman beaters, but I don't know...

Stephen A. Smith reports on ESPN that he's "hearing" Tom Brady's cell phone was destroyed, but adds, "I don't know."

I cannot believe that Brady will just sit quietly and take all of this.

Incredible incredible situation if he just sits there and let's someone say he destroyed his phone to cover evidence

If the NFL is so confident in their case just go ahead and deliver the 4 games already. Espn is classless and I'm sure they will be rewarded. It's funny the destroyed cell phone wasn't in the Wells report for all to see.

The biggest farce in the history of the NFL unless your a biased hater. It's sad it's come to this but can't say it wasn't expected with the unique appeal process Brady got.

Federal court for Brady and the NFL. It's pretty much a slam dunk.

If this is just another false leak with the intent to make Brady look bad then **** everything. He should go after the league for all it's worth. Whether he wins in court or not, go all out. Straight up attempts to defame him.

If it's true then....well it sounds utterly ridiculous.

Probably another leak by nfl to have brady show his phone.

Here other thing Stephen A Smith said:
  • The League wants Brady to take this to court because they are confident that they will win (seems unlikely IMHO)
  • Kraft gave in because there is language in the Spygate punishment that if the Pats were caught cheating again, the League would ban Belichick. He gave in to protect Belichick.

So they take this long to upheld the same punishment ?

And conveniently release a story that screams guilt if are willing to take it a face value.

It sounds like a false report. There's no reason to destroy the phone. Text records can still be pulled in an event like this whole thing going to court.

LOL.

I'm just sayin' that if Smith is putting this out there he better sure as hell be right! That's a hell of a position to put Brady in and condemn him for if it's not true!
If it isn't true, Brady might have the best defamation case against Smith...

Absolutely - if this is not true and if Brady just sits there while this bloke spits out complete **** like this on worldwide television then I would lose a lot of respect for Brady.

Over to you Tommy over to you mate

After the huge punishment that ESPN gave Chris Mortensen for falsely reporting that 11 of the 12 footballs were deflated by 2 PSI or more, you would think everyone at ESPN would triple check their facts. If Stephen A Smith is wrong on this one, can you imagine how hard ESPN comes down on him after Mort's punishment.
