Draft Nuggets and Rumours.

From an interview with Shaq Thompson:

We have been looking at Kam Chancellor types. It wouldn't surprise me if BB drafted him for that role.

The issue is value. I wouldn't use our 32 for Thompson, and that would represent a drop for Thompson. It seems very unlikely that he would be available at 64.

I addressed the value question by asking whether someone would take Thompson at 32 or Tartt at 64. Unless that's what you were referring to and quoted the wrong post.

I just missed your other post. I often just look at the most recent posts in a thread. I should have gone back.

BTW, are you going to post an update to your list of players and values for each of our picks as you did a couple of weeks ago.

Yup. Hope to have my final board sometime tomorrow. I've decided that it's not going to be completely comprehensive, it's just going to be prospects I like, prospects that intrigue me and prospects that I think we might draft so it will be somewhat minimalist.

I'll start on it tomorrow and it should be posted by monday.

By the way, I've found a brilliant site that makes putting my BB together. It's not football related, it's a project management site that will make scouting the draft so much easier. And it makes putting together a big board a much more attractive experience than working in Excel or a note/writing app. As an example, here's the big board in progress.

I was going to save that but I will on the understanding that nothing should be read in to that picture just yet, I'm being very general at this point and things will change and be re-ordered. But:

Green - A binky basically.
Yellow - Falls short of binky status but I'm intrigued/impressed by them
Blue - A very good Pats fit. Could be because of character, athleticism, team captain, film buff etc.
Red - Character or injury red flag
Orange - I can see them getting drafted but the thought doesn't excite me.

I was listening to Daniel Jeremiah's latest podcast in which he and Ian Rapoport ran through the first round and what they were hearing.

Firstly, they didn't really know about the Patriots. Jeremiah Said Tomlinson but that wasn't what he was hearing, just a projection. But, there was lot of interesting stuff.

Titans - sounds like the Chargers trade is probably a non-starter. Titans will probably go Mariota.

Raiders - if Leonard Williams is there, they'll take him ahead of Cooper.

Redskins - want to trade back badly

Jets - this was interesting. Andrus Peat.

Bears - Kevin White

Browns - Todd Gurley

Dolphins - Gurley won't get past them.

49ers - DGB

Bengals - Another interesting one. Jake Fisher or Cedric Ogbuehi. Tony Pauline also named these two for the Bengals.

Eagles - Byron Jones

Cowboys - McKinney

Broncos - Erving

There were others but I can't remember them so I'll have a another listen.

They did say that DJ Swearinger and James Ihedigbo (as well ask Mychal Kendricks possibly) could well be part of a trade.

Verrrry Interesting! The two standouts are The Jets going OL with Peat. If they go with that pick, they could move back. Peat is 1st round material but not at #6 And the Niners with DGB? well Boom or Bust! Just like the gold rush days!!

Didn't orchard blow peat up earlier this year really, really bad?

Love it! First chart that combines analytics and binkiness!

Just giving it another listen.

Re Jets - seems like they wouldn't pass on Dante Fowler. Peat becomes a possibility of Fowler is gone.

Dolphins - Also Trae Wayne's or Kevin Johnson.

Also, DJ talks about Agholor being in play in this middle first area.

Saints - Defense and guard. La'el Collins? They've also been linked to Beasley. Worth bearing in mind if they're looking at OG and pick one place ahead of us.

This could really shake things up. I've gotta think La'el Collins wouldn't be on the Pats board after the Hernandez situation. There is such an unknown here I can't imagine taking that risk even if he isn't a suspect.

http://mmqb.si.com/2015/04/29/lael-collins-nfl-draft-rumors-buzz-mailbag/

1. I think La’el Collins, the LSU tackle projected to be a first-round draft choice Thursday night, has a problem. A pregnant woman Collins apparently knew was murdered last week in Louisiana, and police want to speak with Collins. Police say he is not a suspect. But one team I talked to that is interested in drafting a tackle in the first round is now re-thinking whether Collins will even be on its board Thursday night. This team’s thinking goes: How can you draft a guy who’s being sought in connection with the death of a woman, even if police are saying now he isn’t a suspect? He needs to be exonerated by Thursday. Fair or unfair, Collins needs to address this today, and with finality.

Some Pats related thoughts from the same article
6. I think the Patriots are in a great spot at 32. So many teams high in the second round want to move up, and the Patriots don’t have to take anyone here. If they could get the 2016 first-round pick of a current bad team, I’d do that deal in a second…

7. … I think there’s one exception. New England likes USC wide receiver Nelson Agholor. If I were Bill Belichick, I wouldn’t be getting cute late in the first round, particularly with three picks between 96 and 101. I’d take the guy I’d like. Even if I could get an attractive first-round picks next year for the 32nd pick, I’d still take a receiver Agholor now if I could. (But I do think he’ll be gone before 32.)

I've said it elsewhere, but if he's available at #32, the Patriots ought to give serious consideration to Alabama's Amari Cooper.

The thing is, he's played in an NFL type system that Nick Saban runs down there. It's very similar to New England's, with similar terminology, so the transition would be much faster for him than for some other team.

Cooper has the hands, he's got a clean record for injuries and background stuff, and most of all he's got the discipline and attitude to fit in with the Patriots locker room.

There is zero chance Cooper falls out of the top 10.

Tony Pauline says Damarious Randall to the Colts. Jeremiah talked about Randy Gregory or Shane Ray to the Colts although that was only speculating as a good fit.
