2015 NFL Mock Drafts

Ali will be a top 45-50 pick. Im sure there are more than few teams that have him as a top 3 G. The guy is an absolute force in the running game, fundamentally sound and functionally strong. A really athletic kid that brings power with his speed getting to 2nd level. And has shown he pass protect and his trajectory suggest he'll only improve.

He's not making it that far from 32.

Fortunately this draft has a deep G class imo. There's 4-5 guys that could be playing at a very high level for some teams out there. Tackle as well.

I would love for us to get a DT/OG

You could be right, but it's not a given. No DIII player has even been drafted in 20 years. As for DII, Jared Veldheer (Hillsdale) and Terron Armstead (Arkansas-Pine Bluff) went in the early 3rd, Jahri Evans (Bloomsburg) in the 4th.

I personally think it's a useful tool, as long as one makes it clear what the assumption is, and provides alternatives. I did one like that the other day. In the case of B6's mock, an alternative scenario would be that the trade didn't occur, the Pats didn't take Gurley at 32 but traded back and took Byron Jones at 49, and then took David Johnson at 64. Then it would look like:

#49 - Byron Jones, CB
#64 - David Johnson, RB
#67 - Marcus Hardison, DL
#72 - Ali Marpet, OL
#97 - Eric Rowe, CB
#178 - DeAndre Smelter, WR
#215 - Max Valles, LB
#217 - Terry Williams, DT

Still a darn fine draft.
I'm actually on board with targeting Jones and it's not all about his outstanding combine or his excellent size. We have a need and this kid seems to fit the profile of a Patriot.

"Team captain and leader on the field and in the locker room. Scouts say he's willing to play hurt and inspires his teammates."

"High-character player with the vision and instincts you want from an NFL cornerback. I'm not sure I like him in man coverage but there is a place for him in our league. Really nice young man who you cheer for." -- NFC North scout

Those are the kind of comments you like to see when it comes to an exceptional athlete, and being down the road from UConn makes me like him even more playing in this type of weather enviroment.

Don't let this become the "trade Mallett for a first" that we saw last year. It just seems silly to mock picks that don't exist. Sorry, but I can't take a mock with a made up pick that seriously.
I think something has to come out of the Revis situation otherwise the tampering that Goodell and his office took such issue with will just continue and likely get worse next season. When an owner says to a national media outlet that he wants a player is technically signed through the end of 2015 at the time and faces no repercussions it sets a precedent that more owners can get away with that stuff.

He is reportedly very intelligent which if I learned anything from Revis being here it is that being smart at the CB position makes a tremendous difference. Revis is not anymore athletic or strong, he isn't even 6'0" tall what makes him so special is his approach to the game and his technique. That is what I like about Jones I think he can use his brain and become a true #1 CB.

The Saints own #13 and #31 in the draft already so I'm not sure they'd be looking to move up to #32.

I like the players though especially Mike Davis.

Not saying it isn't possible I would just be surprised. They don't have a tone of cap space even with the rookie wage scale.

Teams renegotiate contracts to comply with the salary cap. The Pittsburgh Steelers have been notorious in that regard.

Like I said man, it could happen, either way I like the players, the trade is sort of secondary it could be done with another team in the same range.

Nice mock, I like glowinski. Got a little nasty in him.

New mock just for fun. Assuming we sign a vet guard, vet WR (cause they seem intent on it) and vet CB at some point. I am going to make this different just cause. Also I will assume a 4th round pick swap between us and the Jets. Also I will leave off Common binkies Marpet and Hardison (ha! You didn't get me this time autocorrect!)

#32 Eddie Goldman - DT - He seems to be falling and was a pick I said I wanted a while ago. The only thing that has changed is is decided I don't want to trade up for him. But if he falls here they should grab him.

-TRADE - #64 & 108 (Jets pick)

#48 Byron Jones - CB (or other top 7 CB) - With so much depth here I think we can afford to wait and trade up in the 2nd

#96 Mike Davis - RB - Very solid 3rd down back. A good RB is going to fall into the early forth and this is just the one i think will

#97comp - Kouandjio - G - Everyone seems to forget he is pretty good. Lacks the upside of some but not bad at all.

#102(TB) - Olomu - CB - I will keep mocking this pick till the cows come home. Might end up on IR but is a really good player and Arrington replacement/upgrade that allows us to dump that salary.

53 with this draft.

Offense - 26

QB - 2 - Brady Garo
TE - 3 - Gronk Chandler Hooman (they keep him over Wright it looks like. Gave him 300K more today)
RB/FB 6 - Blount Ridley (cheap deal) White Davis Bolden Develin
WR - 6 - Edelman Lafell Amendola (Johnson/Jennings/Wayne/Nicks) Dobson Slater
OL - 9 Solder Connolly(someone else?) Stork Wendell Vollmer Flemming Cannon Kouandjio Kline

Defense - 24

DE - 4 - Nink Jones Sheard Moore
DT - 5 - Easley Siliga Goldman Branch Jones
LB - 4 - Mayo Hightower Collins White
CB - 6 - Jones Mathis(vet) Butler Arrington Dennard Ryan
S - 5 - McCourty Harmon Chung Wilson Ebner

STs - 3 (you know them)

Olomu - CB - IR'ed

You can also cut a RB and add in a low level FA lb or lower draft pick LB.

Can't let an extravaganza go without commenting on it:) Good job Tipp. Really like addressing cb and g with our first two picks. Flowers and Ogbuehi are good picks for Round 3. I also like your 4th rounders. Glad to see Mike Davis getting some love. He's a move the chains back. Nice gamble on Mager with the double dip at cb. Would like a dt. Maybe, we'll sign Rubin in free agency.

I'm always more worried about defense than offense. DT and CB are the two positions I'd love to see taken care of. Good job filling those holes. i like Mike. Not as big on Kouandijo. I might prefer Douglas or Donovan Smith there. Two kids who have played tackle and have better feet IMO. Olumu is great value there.

Still holding out hope in unrestricted free agency.

Walter has a 5 rounder out today. God-awful for us.

http://walterfootball.com/draft2015.php

1. D. Smith- WR - OSU - Good player. Too early for us.
2. J. Mateus - G - FSU - What did he run a 5.8?
3. M. Bennett - DT - OSU
No Supple Pick
4. E. Rowe - CB - Utah - I can live with this one.
4. D. Grant - CB - OSU - What's with all of the Buckeyes?

We could have had.

1. B. Jones or R. Darby at CB
2. E. Marpet - G
3. M. Hardison - DT
3. T. McBride - WR
4. E. Rowe - CB
4. J. Douglas - OL

Didn't get a rb. But, we have about a dozen under contract. Maybe, a lb or rb with early 6th.

This is a quick what I think might happen, not what I want to happen mock. No trades.

#32 Byron Jones, CB, UConn

I think it comes down to Jones or Peters if he's still on the board. Jones' character and athleticism ensure he's the pick.

#64 Tre Jackson, OG, FSU

The Patriots spoke to him at the combine and have shown interest in the FSU OL. It's pretty clear that they're targeting a guard in the draft - I don't think there's been any contact with guards in FA except maybe Dan Connolly.

#96 Grady Jarrett, DL, Clemson

During the season last year I commented on the fact that I thought Dominique Easley was being misused as a run defender when his ideal skill set was to burst into the offensive backfield without worrying about gap integrity and the like. Grady Jarrett is the disciplined, run defending version of Easley. With Branch and Siliga providing the 2-gap options, Jarrett and Easley can provide a run or pass defending option from the 3-tech position.

#97 Mike Davis, RB, S Carolina

Not convinced about this pick but he was one we spoke too at the combine. Could see him taking Jonas Gray's spot on the roster with Lewis, Cadet, Gaffney and White.

#101 Jake Ryan, LB, Michigan

BB has spoken to a couple of linebackers in FA so there's a clear need. Whilst I'd love to put Heeney here, at only 231lbs he doesn't really fit the BB mould. Ryan just about makes it at 240. In almost every other way though, Jake Ryan screams potential Patriot in terms of leadership, football intelligence and effort.

#131 Craig Mager, CB, Texas St.

Wanted to go with Nick Marshall but Mager wins because he's so physical. He reminds me of a not quite so good Kyle Fuller

#173 Darren Waller, WR, Georgia Tech

BB's constant search for that big outside threat. Waller is a threat to Tim Wright's position on the team and yet he has the athleticism to play WR too with sub 4.5 speed. This years Mark Harrison type.

#219 Kristjan Sokoli, DL, Buffalo

Have no reason to predict this guy to the Pats but I wanted to put him here because this guy is one of the most athletic prospects available; he put up JJ Watt numbers at his pro day.

#252 Cassius Sendish, S, Kansas

He'll be a permanent fixture in my mock.

Aside from the Sokoli and Mager picks, I think there's a reasonable argument to justify each of the above being a BB pick. Like most, give me Jones-Hardison-Marpet as a preference but that just seems to good to be true. This seems more "real".

One more note on Jarrett. Whilst it's still very early, I just want to note that BB attended the clemson and Auburn pro days and Patriot scouts showed some interest in Nunez-Roches. He, Jarrett (Clemson) and Gabe Wright (Auburn) are similar prospects.
