Chicken Littles... someone finds your lack of faith...

Bill has had a tough time putting a secondary through the draft. One player like revis makes a difference. This team has a huge hole on the d line and on the backfield. They will win their share of games but be prepared to see a number of big plays

Good. Just how I like him. If he needed a reason to not get complacent after winning #4....
If that's the case then he should have phucking signed Revis in the first place. BB is the best head coach in the NFL and IMO, of all time and I have 100% faith in his ability to run the Pats, but sometimes, just sometimes BB outsmarts himself in cases like this. This blows.

The whole "chicken little" thing is getting old & dumb and is rarely warranted.

And as of now, I blame Revis more than the Pats.
for what?

I'll be honest here. I agree that the world didn't end. I believe that BB will find a way to make this team the best in the AFC once more. I am taking Revis' news much better than expected, actually.

But i HATE the term chicken little. It's too arrogant. It's too diminishing. I can relate to people who are disgusted. I don't agree with the panic, but it is worrysome to see one of the best secondary in the NFL to be left with Dennard, Ryan, Arrington and Butler. Just my 2 cents, I have been holding this for a while

Anyway, I'm hoping for some nice signings now. Suddenly, we have money to spend

Reiss may have been right about the Browner thing, Pats knew they lost Revis, Browner needed Revis to play his style in our defense, now we move on to maybe Chicago's defense of a few years ago, Tampa 2 with a strong pass rush.

We can add players still even though we lost Revis, I feel like a lot of people thing free agency just ended, it didn't.

When was the last time Patriots have a "strong pass rush"? Patriots have been weakened in the Secondary, RBs, and DL. That is alot to recover...

Yes, I'm sure the 31 other FOs are laughing their asses off at the team that just won the Lombardi.
They are laughing at patriot fans, not at the SB champion who chose not to commit $21M a year to Revis and Browner, with significant guarantees.

I'm disappointed he's not coming back but not mad at BB at all, interested to see who we go after now though. Hope we get browner back

What If i told you, keeping superbowl winning caliber players was hard.

More to the point, keeping a championship team together is very hard.

This is not just true for football but also true for major professional sports, be it baseball, basketball, or hockey.

...thats why I'm saying I believe they'll target pass rushers.

Easley will return, hopefully as explosive as he was in college, I don't believe any pass rushers have signed in Free Agency so far, there will be surprise cuts, there will be surprise trades, this isn't over. And we can still clear more cap space, Miguel has us around 13.5m I believe.

Belichick rented two players for a year for $17M. The patriots won the Super Bowl. Are you suggesting that Belichick shouldn't have spent the $17M?

worst case we will play dennard, butler and Arrington in zone as we did before. This is the pats way for so Long. Its not bad.

I don't like that he is leaving but what gets me is that anyone here thinks they know more about putting together a team than the professionals like BB. If you know so much then get a job doing it.

I have faith, yeh it hurts but they will be fine, at the end of the day the NFL wants offense not defense and they created the rules to be sure offense wins, after all our offense won the SB, 14 points in 11 minutes against the best defense in the league, didn't work out so good for seattle.

BB and Kraft know a hell of a lot more about building a team than anyone on this forum.

At this point in free agency last year, we did nothing and lost Talib to the Broncos, who looked like a lock for the Super Bowl. We ended up with Revis, Browner and Lafell.

I certainly wish Revis was coming back but I'm anxious to see what happens next.

I am disappointed but I am not pissed...even in the playoffs (ravens or seahawks) its not we were fielding a shutdown defense...It was Brady putting the team on his arm...

Frankly, use the money to get more weapons and put 50 points on the Jets...see if they can outscore that...

Sure they'll be fine, but with Brady at the helm and the ripe age of 38 going into the 2015 season, anything short of a Superbowl is a disappointment. Call me spoiled, but seriously, with Brady right now and a defense like last season they can seriously win another SB and IMO those chances have taken a big hit with the loss of Revis and Browner.

He was one guy demanding about 10-12% of the cap space. We're all glad that he fit in for last year and that they won. I don't think it's much of a stretch to see how it's difficult to justify that type of expense long term. The Pats almost never have, except for Brady, who has also basically let them rework his contract at will for whatever flexibility they are seeking that year. You hope the guy (DR), in addition to playing well and producing, will see the value in winning and being part of a winning organization, that maybe he'd stay for a bit less long-term because of it...he didn't. Oh well.

It's entirely possible that Revis really, simply does see the Jets as home, that the possibility of at some point contributing to a single winning team there is more important to him than winning 5 straight SBs with NE.
Based on his previous contract negotiations with the Jets that seems unlikely...but it's possible, especially after being gone for a few years.

But whatever the case, **** him, he's gone. Thanks for the memories and now TB knows more than ever about him so he can smoke him 2x a year for the rest of his career. Just another guy for Gronk to throw out of the club.

Not happy with the events of today, but I have faith that Belichick will figure out a way to overcome this.

I still think the Pats are the favorites in the AFC, but they obviously need to make some moves if they want to go back to back Super Bowls.
I disagree. Our defense is putrid. Had trouble stopping the run, and Wilfork is gone. And our new starting CBs are Arrington and Dennard (or Butler). Terrible laughable defense. Maybe we sign Harvin and Helu, and try to win every game 42-35. Defense wins championships.

Bring back Big Vince, he is needed. Now that we don't need the money for Whore24

The Pats were top ten in points allowed in 2013 without Revis or Browner (or Wilfork after the first month). This defense even without those guys is better than the 2013 version because that defense was decimated by injuries and Collins and Hightower hadn't stepped up.

Nice post, but Brady won't be toasting Revis anytime soon and it's ALWAYS about the money for Revis.
