IF Wes Welker retires from NFL, will he sign 1-day deal with Patriots?

I don't think anyone is going to dispute the notion that Welker was a very good player here, but there's more to it than that.

There are people disputing it in this very thread.

Why?

So him and bill didn't see eye to eye. He played his ass off here and went off for a pretty meager payday.

I wish he'd stayed, wish he'd made that catch, but I'm not going to hate on the guy and wish him ill thoughts
I'm not wishing him ill thoughts. I hope he retires before he ends up drooling on an afghan and sitting in a wheelchair before he's 40.

Welker was better than Edelman, without question. Only the most biased Patriot fans would suggest otherwise.

Edelman catches the passes that Welker drops.

I know you don't understand what you're talking about.

Who let Tyree make the helmet catch, by the way?

Cognitive Dissonance. Look it up.

Tyree's catch, which happened in a different game, has nothing to do with Welker's drop.

Try again.

You're right. Welker WAS better than Edelman 3 years ago. Not now and not forever more. You're also correct about this: only the most biased Patriot fan would suggest otherwise.

I wonder how people's tunes would change if Butler doesn't make that pick. Edelman better than Welker? Ahahahaha

Are we talking about 2015? Sure Edelman is better, Welker is basically a vegetable now. In their careers? Get real.

Granted, Edelman is plenty young and has a lot of time to catch him.

Bottom line is he cost the Pats a super bowl with a drop that JE or even Danny catch every time. I could let that go but then he goes to our arch enemy for less money?? He made his bed F him.

I don't get whats so disputed here. Welker was a nice little player, but he's a chocking dog. His hands wouldn't be trusted in my flag football league.

Are you 100% sure they make that catch? Edelman was tied for 6th in the league in drops. I cam vividly remember some of his drops. Do I hate him for it? No, it happens.

Why are you holding it against Edelman that he had to ride the bench behind Welker? It's not his fault we had veterans in front of him, and the 2 TE set dominate the passing game and didn't allow him many snaps.

Edelman has always been more athletic and certainly more clutch the last two seasons. Welker dropped a relatively easy catch in a Super Bowl in his prime, and one that Edelman makes no problem.

Knowing what we do about Edelman now and of what Welker's career was, I'd take Edelman 100% of the time. Edelman does everything Welker did + plus more and does it better.

Based on what, stats?

Troy Brown had only one 1000+ yard season. His career high of about 1100 yards was nowhere near Welker's 1500 yards. Brown also never had more than 6 receiving TDs in a season.

Are you actually going to sit there and claim Welker was a better receiver for us than Brown because his stats didn't measure up to Welker's? If so, you're one insane mofo.
