The Official Belichick Post Press Conference Thread

Hope you're right, but things might've changed since that now deceased dinosaur last sued the league.

Make of this what you will:

All kinds of things can happen, a judge might find something like an implied term of the contract that the league will not enforce arbitrary punishments.

Can we all just take a minute to sit back and take in that we really do have the greatest football coach of all-time?

This guy is just something else. If he can get the team to focus and block out all the noise from this weeks media circus and the noise still to come, and there will be a lot of it, and then still win the Super Bowl, then I don't think there's any doubt left:

Bill Belichick is the G.O.A.T.

Just watched that press conference. I am ****ing PUMPED UP.

There will be so much momentum and motivation going into this game it will be insane.

You ****ing tell a guy like Brady or Revis that they are only where they are because of cheating - and that's the subtext to all this BS - you're going to get the game of a lifetime out of them. The Seahawks are going to get outhustled and outmuscled. They're going to be embarrassed on a national stage as this team vents its ire on them as the unfortunate target of the righteous infliction of retribution that will constitute a giant middle finger pointed at the rest of the nation and its biased and jealous assholes who thought that a dip in PSI explains why their loser ass teams are sitting at home complaining about ball inflation and the integrity of the game.

****'m all.

Pretty sure a rocket scientist from RPI on staff at d-coordinator is an asset when they come at ya w/ false accusations related to physics

How did I miss Patricia's time at RPI? I live near the campus and I've been to a handful of lectures. I hope he stays with the team for a long time.

I was out of town today visiting a friend I haven't seen in ages (who, ironically, lives near Green Bay) and I missed all the excitement while it was going on, except for seeing a banner on my phone saying BB called a press conference.

I'm sure by now everyone's seen it or knows how to find it, but just in case:

http://www.patriots.com/media-cente...e-letter/d607eb23-2f67-4da5-aedc-b8bfba8d4c11

Now...

From this moment on, I will NOT talk about this again on this board or on FB or anywhere else. Bill said he's not talking about it anymore, so neither am I. As far as I'm concerned, this crap is over. It'll never be over for the haters so to hell with them. I don't care. If anyone is so f***ing clueless that they truly and honestly believe a coach who has spent his entire life enmeshed in this game and a QB who is arguably one of the greatest of all time built one of the strongest foundations in the history of the sport by videotaping "secret" signals that were displayed in front of 80,000 people, and/or by letting two pounds of air out of the goddamn game balls, then that person is a complete and utter idiot, and worthy of no more respect than these deluded fools in the Middle East who truly and honestly believe God wants them to behead innocent strangers. I am DONE.

Just saw this gem:

Ben Volin ✔ @BenVolin
5 TVs tuned to sports channels at the bar. Not one mention of any deflated footballs. Our long national nightmare is over

I love how it's "our" nightmare now. He's one of the MAIN people that created and helped sustain this "story."

God I hate this guy. I wish he'd just go to another paper for a team he actually likes and/or cares about reporting accurately for. I hate him more than Borges and Tomase, I think. And every stupid tweet he makes is creating a wider margin. LOL

Just some logical thinking, with no hate. Go Curt !

>>"I recall them having a pressure gauge in the locker room, but most often they just squeezed the balls, turned them over in their hands a few times each, and inspected the laces. I don't recall them ever rejecting one of our balls," he said.

Wow, the media has created 99.9% of this football story. Listening to the press conference was hard. Embarrassed at the questions.

Yes, Volin went full ****** on this issue. From the start to the end.

Seems Bilas struggles with comprehension.

Belichick revealed the silver bullet. The crux of the issue is the rub-down they give the footballs immediately prior to their inflation/inspection.

The way they prepare the football results in an artificially inflated PSI reading immediately after said preparation of the football.

Upon the effect(s) of the treatment wearing off, the PSI of the ball drops roughly 1 PSI. Couple this with environmental factors and you have the explanation.

Some may ask why the same footballs didn't deflate below regulation during the second half, after being reinflated. The obvious answer is because they were not treated/rubbed-down after being reinflated prior to the second half. They were measured by the officials, reinflated and that was all. There was no "rubbing down" of the footballs prior to the second half, this only happened before the first half.

There's your silver bullet. Case closed, onto the Super Bowl.

I can't see a fine at this point. Bill stated officials were told to inflate them and the footballs were in their possession until game time. Curious to hear refs side
Yes, this. I can't believe how this major, key point has escaped attention. Bill put the whole pressure thing on the refs. It no longer matters what the Pats did to modify the pressure in the balls. All of that gets firewalled off in the process and made irrelevant when the balls are handed to the refs with the request that they, the refs, set the pressure to the legal 12.5 psi

So proud. Could write forever on my respect for the man but a lot of its been said...

What are the ramifications for not turning up to media day... I'm sure they are well within their rights.

That gives credences to Michael Holley's assertion that when BB showed up with the tapes and handed them to Goodell they had video of other teams doing the same thing.

Aha, just realized, that's why Goodell destroyed the tapes so quickly, to cover up how commonplace it was. Another piece falls into place, answers a lingering question.

i saw it...finally...

THANK YOU BILL BELICHICK !!!

it was great, awesome, exciting, emotional...

...........................I am a total idiot when it comes to cars. However, if I was a NFL official in charge of a car investigation, I would hope I would have the common sense to call some expert like you...............................
The point I was trying to make is that everyone that drives a car should know that cold weather lowers the air pressure in tires. It is a significant drop - so much so that it can be dangerous, ergo the tire and auto manufacturers are obligated to caution drivers about it.
It doesn't take a genius or expert to make the step that weather that affects automobile tires will affect any other inflatable.
The NFL got caught with their pants down and they are in a quandary trying to figure out how to deal with it. Glaringly obvious that they screwed the pooch on this deal.
