I know it's very early: But KC

The OL is a major problem, but overall lack of talent is as well. With the exception of a healthy Gronkowski, the Patriots skill position players consist of a bunch of guys that would get a ho-hum response in free agency. Edelman may be changing that this year, but he wasn't that highly coveted last offseason. I believe if you asked NFL defenses about the talent level of the Pats' skill guys, the responses would be consistently unimpressed. Nobody is up late worrying about how to slow down Amendola, Thompkins, Dobson, Hoo-Man, etc.
Probably right on most accounts. I think Ridley and Vereen would get snatched up quickly in FA. And Brady is the only player teams probably worry about facing from the offense right now. And with the OL making it easy to get to him, the plan is simple: pin your ears back and get your hits in.

I only occasionally watch the Chiefs, and thus only occasionally watch J. Charles and Knile Davis, but according to their combine numbers, Davis is just as fast and as quick (10, 20 and 40 yd dash are comparable) as Charles, but Davis is 30 lbs heavier. Not sure what else separates the two. Maybe Charles has better vision? Maybe Davis just needs an opportunity? Don't know, but every time I've watched Davis he looks fast and mean.

I'm still haunted by what Knowshon and Lamar freaking Miller did to the run defense in week 1. Hope Siliga's foot doesn't cause him to miss some time.

edit: just looked up Miller's combine numbers, wow didn't know he was that fast. he's never looked particularly fast when i've watched him in games. guess i need to pay more attention.

Regardless of win or loss, just hope TB won't get injured.

I expect less than 30 total points scored and a close game.

It seems a lot of people keep talking about the Patriots' general offensive problems when, IMHO, this is 80% an OL thing. When the OL starts providing protection that allows Brady to hold onto the ball a while longer and make more throws from good decision making instead of fear of being sacked -- the Patriots' scoring is going to jump significantly. I'd go so far as to say if the OL plays solidly (not spectacular, just solidly), I feel relatively good about getting the W in KC.

If the Oline doesn't block...brady doesn't have time..wrs have to get open right away it all falls on (or most of it) on the OL that gets better and everything else does

I think we might get beaten pretty badly in this game. KC's offense is surprisingly explosive and could easily put up a lot of points even if the defense contains them most of the game. On the flip side, I see the Pats scoring somewhere between 13 and 20. I think they may just go out and destroy Cincy afterward, though. While we're used to seeing the interior OL get pushed in, I think the problem now is the tackles. It makes more sense to me that we'd struggle more offensively against teams like MIA and KC with good edge rushers than a team like CIN whose pass rush mostly comes up the middle (keep in mind they lost Michael Johnson).

The key to this game will be contingent on the interior OL. We cannot afford pressure up the middle. Tom is going to need to get the ball out quickly this week. I expect a lot of quick throws/bubble screens to counter that. KC is no slouch when it comes to putting pressure on the QB. I, like everyone else on this board, want to see AD breakout and have a field day. But I just don't think that this week's gameplan will focus on the long ball. That said, hopefully he can find a way to make an impact without having to rely on stretching the field.

My co worker who is very good at picking games..i mean scary good think pats lose this one in a very hostile environment with still some big ??....but next week will destroy cincy and bring them down from their 4-0 high.

I think this will be the case as well..but i think the KC game will go either way...but leaning twords KC. Just wayy too many ?? marks right now. But please prove me wrong pats

Honestly it's to hard to say for me either. I of course pick the pats, but man it all hinges on who starts on OL and the gameplan.

So no confidence in the defense then? As bad as the Pats OL has been KC's OL hasn't been that much better.

KC's McKnight's done for the year. He ruptured his achilles.

That just happen today?

Running back Joe McKnight has a torn Achilles’ tendon, the team announced Friday, making him the third Chiefs player to suffer the same season-ending injury this year.

Offensive coordinator Doug Pederson said that McKnight ruptured his Achilles while running a route during Thursday’s practice. He was not hit on the play.

I have confidence in the D...but 0 in the O...so it's tough pick for me

I think they are going to come out and play a good (or significantly improved) game on both sides of the ball, although that may not be when we're expecting it--LOL. Either way, they'll need to get things going because we play what I see as one hell of a challenging schedule, although I've seen it that way for awhile and some will disagree.

I never expected anything better than 11-5 or 12-4 at best, no matter what--just due to the schedule.
