The take on the "Independent Investigator". WOW.

According to that logic, every single employee of ESPN also faces a conflict of interest, so I guess we shouldn't believe anything their reporters have to say on the subject either.

Yup, you're right, we shouldn't. Or on anything related to sports, really.

Facts are facts, or is the report wrong.

That's actually a good point I have mentioned before in other forums. For example, ESPN is in bed with the SEC via their "SEC Network". That is a HUGE conflict of interest in a sport where increased exposure and attention will give certain schools unfair advantages over others. Not to mention how they give such a disproportionate amount of news coverage to events they are televising

ESPN is a narrative machine for the major sports. Some of its analysis and news is coherent (like Mike Reiss, Mel Kiper, whatever) but there's still a major relationship there. Ditto any of the networks that broadcast games. Even PFT, for instance, is owned by NBC now. Tough to find an "independent" sports media that's also trustworthy and worth reading outside of certain blogs.
