To be honest though, I believe his nickname is yet to be determined. Something he'll do will help to define him down the road, in my opinion.

Pancho (short for Francisco, or Frank) is so Latino that in Spain Latino immigrants are called "panchos" or "panchitos" (little panchos).
I think its popularity is related to the famous Pancho Villa, the man Mexicans feel proud of because "he was the first person to invade continental US".

I thought that's why they were proud of Columbus... and if he doesn't count, what about all those Brits that invaded the continental U.S. 2 different times?

Anyhoo... it's also just as likely that Jimmy got busted wearing one of these numbers on a rainy day in practice... or worse yet, a not-rainy day when it might rain...

Of course, if they want to give him a hard time, they could research his middle name and hope it's Andy or Aaron or something. Then they can call him JAG...

British invasions are not explained in Mexican primary schools, just Pancho Villa (real name: José Doroteo Arango) and his revolutionary bandit-like army assaulting the U.S. By the way, Columbus never landed in continental U.S. or Mexico; Columbus remains a controversial figure for Mexicans in Mexico because he was a pioneer of the Spanish invasion of Mexico, and Pancho Villa led his raid (just a few hours) in Columbus, New Mexico.
