Amendola hung up on Adam Jones during 98.5 radio interview...

B6, I heard the interview. Jones threw out the "fragile" label once or twice. You do not call a football player fragile....ever!
Adam said, “You have been labeled fragile” he did not call him fragile he spoke to something he has been labeled in the past.

I heard the interview. He came right out of the gates with the injury stuff and basically accused him of being fragile. His tone wasn't confrontational, but it certainly was confrontational because he came out swinging with the injury questions and pretty much made it clear that he feels that Amendola is made of glass.

How was your first season in New England and what would you like to improve on in year two were the first two questions asked, he did not lead off with injuries. To suggest he came out swinging is absurd he was doing no such thing; he was asking questions that you would ask a player who has missed 50% of the games over the past three seasons.

It is not the way you conduct an interview for a charity event. He shouldn't have come out swinging to the injury questions and worked his way into it. You start an interview with three questions about a player's ability to stay on the field (after one softball question) and it is a confrontational interview.

Amendola wanted a platform to promote his charity, Adam Jones wanted to interview a player about football, he let Amendola come on the air with the understanding that he would answer the football questions.

The fact of the matter is Jones is a horrible interviewer. Any good interviewer knows you need to soften an interviewee up with several softball questions and ask the harder questions later in the interview when they feel more comfortable answering questions. Jones basically came out swinging with the tougher questions first. It just shows his inexperience as an interviewer.

Adam Jones is not a horrible interviewer; he has worked for ESPN radio, and is well respect amongst the media. He is not Borges he was not executing his own agenda.

Of course. If he wanted a good interview, he would use clever interviewing techniques. Unfortunately, I think he's just an A hole and wanted to goad him into a meltdown to get publicity for himself. He got to trash talk with his radio buddies afterwards, but got no sound bite, so Amendola won. This will fade away.
This is hilarious, a 28 year old NFL football player hangs up on an interviewer because his questions about injuries hurt his feelings and you are saying he won. What did he win?

Every major football media outlet in the United States has written an article about Amendola hanging up on Jones, I have not seen one that advocated on Amendola’s behalf, at best the writer was neutral and most took issue with Amendola’s actions. Amendola did not win anything.

OK, the word fragile and football player doesn't belong in the same sentence.

The guy is unlucky in the injury department, no question. Call him injury prone, say something else, just don't insult the dude and ask if his feelings get hurt if he's labeled fragile. You just don't say that. Esp in an interview that he agreed to do to promote his charity.

I'd crap on Amendola if he were to hang up after the first question, but Jones was gonna pepper him about the same subject the whole interview.

Felger and Mazz get crapped on alot, they ask tough questions, but look at the relationship they have with Cam Neely. He comes on every week during hockey season. They are friendly with eachother. They ask the tough questions, but ultimately know when to stop. I actually feel Cam gives them a lot of material by doing that. That's how to conduct an interview. Jones just showed the market he belongs in that 7-11 slot. He'd get killed between 6am-6pm.

Kind of surprised this incredibly minor issue is still being discussed.

BTW- has it been conclusively determined that DA actually hung up on Jones? It could very well been that they simply lost the connection and it was a better story for the mediots if the "hung up" aspect was emphasized rather than just trying to get him back on the line. I haven't read anywhere where DA or the Pats came out and said he hung up.

Just asking?

Adam Jones did use the words unlucky when asking the questions. I do not think he was being a douche, I think he was asking reasonable questions. He could have chose better words to ask but he didn't say anything that merited being hung up on.

I have no issue with you or anyone else not having a problem with what Amendola did, my issue is with those suggesting what Amendola did was the best way to handle it. That was not the case, Amendola did what he did and it is whatever but it was not the best way or the most mature approach.

You must not think much of Brady either after his Dolphins presser last year. What he did was 10x worse

Laughing jackass scumbag ...total POS Adam Jones. Anybody who would take this moron's side about anything needs their psych meds rechecked.

I don't think 6 is troll though, just for the record.

He has THOUSANDS of posts on this board all denigrating Amendola. He deliberately put up this thread to bash Amendola AGAIN.He deliberately portrayed Amendola as some kind of bumbling buffoon and then arrogantly posted what Amedola should have done...stated that as FACT without any question and attacked anybody (like Ray Clay) who dared to question HIS motives. I don't know,OX 1, but I call that pretty major trolling.

"Injury prone, fragile or unlucky. Or another word that comes to mind." That other word is the "excuse the French" word. I would have hung up to.
Even if you would have would you feel that you handled it the best way possible.

I'm not saying Amendola did a heinous thing, he made a reactionary choice in the heat of the moment. It was not the best choice as I'm sure he would agree.

What I am advocating against in this thread is the suggestion that what Amendola did was the right thing to do. Even if Adam Jones was a complete ******* two wrongs do not make a right and hanging up on some is disrespectful.

I have absolutely no pro problem with the hang up. Jones was being a douche nozzle and is a perfect example of why I do not listen to local "sports" radio. I find just about all of it unlistenable.

If he had insinuated I was a p***y I would have hung up, hopped in my car and went over to see him face to face. THAT would be wrong. Simply hanging up was probably the best choice. Media guys have a responsibility to be respectfull as well. What Jones did was try to bait him. Danny just cut the line and put his pole away.

phoneslam.gif Wish Amdendola use those phone where he can bang the handset repeatedly.

They were replaying the interview for people who didn't hear it and talking/laughing over it at the same time. That's not the original interview.

I know that...and they were laughing at and ridiculing Amendola like hyenas. They sure "got" him, huh? Maybe now they'll get all "gun ho" and run him out of town on a "grail". Imagine the amount of threads created about Amendola that would bring to the board. It'd be wonderful, huh?
