I don't think Gymrat is a troll Danger. I think he's a fan. If that's the truth than he's welcome in my book. Look at your sig. Does it not ring true?

Hey, I could be wrong..

-but between the name, the horrendous spelling, rambling points with a micro-focus on which muscle groups these professional athletes need to work on next, the posting of shirtless pics, calling other posters fat (really?), and the look-at-me narcissism.. it's all a bit over the top, don't you think?

Well, I do.

Its exactly the kind of behavior I'd expect from someone pretending to be that kind of person.. and not what I'd expect from an actual gym rat. If you get my meaning.

yes...the "new generation" fan is here..and here to stay.As much as the long time NFL fan tries to buck this trend, the fans exactly like Gymrat ARE the future customer base of the NFL.

The past 7 years have seen changes that have disfigured and transformed the game. It's all headed towards total pitch and catch with the athletes with the best "fast twitch" muscles the only athletes of importance. The Gymrats want big fast WR's running 45 yards downfield every play making acrobatic catches. Every other position is of secondary or tertiary importance and of no real consequence as long as every team has a 6'4" WR that runs a 4.3 making unimpeded straight line plays forty yards downfield every play.

All that's left for Goodell to do now is twist and deform the defensive rules even further so that a Megatron can become a huge star in the Super Bowl every year no matter what. Obviously, the league hasn't gone far enough to insure this dog and pony show but it's coming...because THIS is what the demographic that calls the shots WANTS. Fantasy football has finally killed our great sport.

R.I.P
old school NFL

Joker I couldn't agree more. But that's just the problem we need to adapt somewhat. But that's where you mistake me. I don't want that ****. A ****** for a qb playing catch with Megatron. If an easy throw isn't there they take off and run. Because of the fear of big plays the defense is spread out and when they run they gash the defense for big plays and look like hero's and are called the future and the demise of the intelligent accurate pocket qb. Makes me sick. My favorite wr I would like to add is Marquise Lee who is quick with decent length and skillset to be a very productive route runner. He will need to work with an intelligent accurate pocket qb to max his route running ability and match Calvin's production.
That's what I want for our offense. A fast medium sized wr with fluidity/ability to connect with Tom and consistently win at 15-20' yard area both in the middle of the field and outside the #'s at that distance. And does so through route running and timing. But Who also carries enough deep speed/athleticism for defenses to completely respect him breaking loose deep or high pointing the ball over a defender. Bottom line a wr who wins like a welker with route running and timing but with a little more speed, length, fluidity for when called upon to beat the defense even when they read the play and focus on him.

I never said we need 2 Calvin Johnson's nor would I want a plain toss and catch qb/wr duo. But we also can't win a championship without some kinda modern touch to our offense/defense. I'm happy they are updating the OLine instead of relying on schemes depending on double team blocks to compensate for wendalls/connollys thats not possible to do with multiple good passrusher teams.

Well, I do.
If he could tone it down a notch that would endear him to this board a little better. The micro-focus on exercise, muscle groups ect. is actually intriguing.

And let's face it, we're all a little narcissistic to some degree. If he's just a fan trying to participate I'll cut him some slack until he gets acclimated.

Nobody can be upset at our wr corps or deficient players without being a fan. Just like people here love home team players even when some lack talent.

This is the problem with this entire hope –

-The Lions are not going to trade Calvin Johnson.
-The Bengals are not going to trade AJ Green.
-The Falcons are not going to trade Julio Jones.
-The Cowboys are not going to trade Dez Bryant.
-The Bears are not going to trade Brandon Marshall or Alshon Jeffery.
-The Broncos are not going to trade Demaryius Thomas.
-Josh Gordon is looking at a 1-year suspension.
-Andre Johnson is about to turn 33 years old.

I know some think Belichick can just drag any player he wants back to his cave and do as he please but that is not actually the case, the other team and in some situations the player has to sign off on the trade, that is not likely to happen with any of the elite WRs.

What I'm taking away from everything you just said is..

... we're trading for Larry Fitzgerald? :D

(Just being funny, not trying to snub the ever hopefuls -I understand where they are coming from. I remember what we accomplished when we had Moss).

Who did I call fat LOL. Really. Everybody started picking on my posts when all I want is our players to play to their max potential. In all seriousness I know Shannon Sharpe(haven't seen him personally in years) He told me about players that could be much better and how he maxed his ability along with some others. He commended me and others for being in shape while attending classes/holding jobs while NFL players get played to do so and live in fast food joints.

Slow down there B6 LOL. Nobody said the top 6 wr's. Just a talented player that we can make a better player. Maclin(one yr deal he is on) Quick who the rams have soured on as he has on them in return. or Andre Johnson should Houston fall from contention. By time they can contend he could be to old. Maybe they would like a qb and draft pick to help rebuild while he still has trade value.

You know Sharpe? Please elaborate. That's a contribution I think everyone would like to hear. I don't disbelieve you either, and I'm on record stating as much. You're a fan who wants the best interest for his team. Good enough for me.

I'm 5-3 and 675lb and can run the 40 in 3 days. JK, more like 5-9 175 and 42. I can run the 40 real fast depending on how many cops are behind me. :D. I'm even faster if the destination is a fast food joint.;)

I am not sure what you see in Quick he has less receptions in his first two years then Thompkins had last year.

LOL Bradford acts like he doesn't care. He could drop back to pass and try and think if his Ferrari needs gas on the way home. Catching passes from Brady and Bradford is not a comparison. Brady has a history of making backup and semi-pro league wr's look decent. He made Edelman a 1000 yrd WR. Every wr other than welker were exiled from the NFL after released from the patriots.

This needs its own thread instead of raining on GP thread. If we are to acquire a wr perhaps Bill wants to trade a future pick for an established coached up WR once the season starts and he can see the big picture of what's available. I liked Mike Williams. Had 11 TDs as a rookie which showed great raw talent. Noway we get him now though. Is there anybody you have in mind. Keep in mind there has to be a chance he becomes available. And he has to have talent to help us. Try to keep in mind to think of a wr you think has breakout ability or has underperformed on bad offenses with a bad qb. Maybe a troubled talent in need of disciplined structure. Or a wr a team figures to lose and would like a return. Then there's WR's unhappy on their current teams.

I like Quick if rams would part.Justin Blackmon if we could get him on the field(could be a steal) or Maclin if he hasn't lost his explosiveness. I also like Darick Rodgers potential but Noway colts are letting him go now.

Don't get your hopes up. Doug Gabriel is not walking through that door.

I've mentioned before (usually in the context of Amendola) that I watch a lot of Rams games because my roommate is a Rams fan, and I've seen just about every game the Rams have played the last three years. And this is absolutely correct, Quick is useless.

Like this thread, come to think of it.

If we are picking from Rams receivers, I would rather have Givens.

Stinko was a special case.

Almendola seems to have learned the offense.
Amendola joined the team in March.

My point was that it makes no sense to bring on a WR after the season begins when the Playbook is as complex as the Patriots'. If a 6X Pro Bowl talent like Ocho couldn't learn the Offense with the benefit of training camp and the preseason, I doubt that BB would take the risk that someone would be able to learn it joining the team after the season has begun. I stand by what I said.

Take a look at Quick compared to Dobson.

Brian Quick
Height: 6034
Weight: 220
40 Yrd Dash: 4.50
20 Yrd Dash: 2.53
10 Yrd Dash: 1.59
225 Lb. Bench Reps: 15
Vertical Jump: 34
Broad Jump: 09'11"
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.23
3-Cone Drill: 7.10

Aaron Dobson
Height: 6026
Weight: 210
40 Yrd Dash: 4.37
20 Yrd Dash: 2.60
10 Yrd Dash: 1.51
225 Lb. Bench Reps: 16
Vertical Jump: 35
Broad Jump: 10'01"
20 Yrd Shuttle: 4.33
3-Cone Drill: 7.19

Like I said before, Dobson is a better prospect and in one season already has more production than Quick had in two seasons.

We both know I am not Amendola’s biggest supporter, but I have had a chance to watch some tape of him this offseason and he does a number of things really well on the football field. I am cautiously optimistic about his 2014 season. That aside the Patriots made a significant investment in Amendola and they have to give him a chance this year, one and done would have been stupid especially given the fact Amendola was limited by the groin, and where that really hurt him is it limited his ability to practice in the offense.
