ESPN mentioned Johnny Manziel 113 times last night

I never watch ESPN for the draft

I usually really like Rich Eisen. But damn it felt like he mentioned Manziel more than that during the first our alone.

The new Tim Tebow. ESPN loves to have a lightning rod to keep the masses entertained.

How about Gruden......Has he lost his marbles? When Dallas was on the clock, Gruden was pounding the table for Johnny Football..."What happens if Romo goes down in the 3rd game....then what? Dallas has to take this stud!!" Kiper's jaw was resting on the floor watching this insanity next to him. Later, Gruden pulled the "Its gotta be Johnny Football with this pick" once again and Kiper had enough and starting challenging him.

Beyond these flare ups, clearly ESPN was tipped to the picks....and watching the jack azzes put on their acting bonnets and pretend they were clever enough to connect the dots and get the correct pick....just embarrassing.

Who thinks he will be mentioned another 50 times in the 2nd round?

For those of us who were resigned to having to LISTEN to ESPN last night, Manziel was a real kiler. The commentators (who were otherwise excellent--for a change) started interviewing him about 5 minutes before our pick at 29. Unlike all the other interviews, which were cut about 1 minute before the announced next pick so the prediction expert cd name his choices for the coming pick, the Manziel interview went on long past the Patriot pick--very leisurely, thus effectively destroying almost all of the Patriots (best NFL team in 21st century) coverage.

Incidentally, the coverage we did get was very critical of the pick, saying things like Easley was 85 on so and so's big board, and that's all we needed was "another injured tackle."

Rich Eisen was ridiculous last night. It was like the Tim Tebow draft all over again. I'm amazed Mayock kept his cool this time, Eisen wasted so much analysis time by bringing up Manziel before almost every single pick. It was infuriating.

I was waiting for them to announce the broadcast as "Welcome to the Johnny Manziel Draft Party featuring the NFL Draft". It was sickening.

Perhaps they've realized trying to prognosticate (or analyze) what the Patriots do is pretty much a fool's errand?

These non fans must wonder if any of these announcers knows anything about football? Between the hype and career of Tebow and the hilarious reality slap in the face of Johnny football's mudslide to the twenties, these "experts" look like clowns. Gil Brandt had Manziel 1st overall, by the way. LOL

Just sickening.

I hope this guy is out of the league quicker than Tebow. At least Tim was humble and an overall likeable person. Manziel is just unbearable (for me at least).

Just heard a teaser for day 2. There are multiple reports that Manziel will remain drafted tonight! Discuss?

Kiper was schooling Gruden to the point where it seemed Gruden would walk off the stage.

EVERYONE was tipped to the picks. The pick was being tweeted out by La Conforta and others at least 30 seconds and some times two minutes before the commish made his announcement. All the draft picks were looking at their phones to see the 'real' announcement via twitter. You could watch the twitter feed and hear the crowd gasp/cheer/boo the second it was out on twitter, then a second later you could see Mike Mayock say 'I think it's going to be X' and then the commish would waddle across the stage.

I'm surprised that more isn't being made of this. I guess the media types are used to the tipoffs and don't want to bring it up, but I thought we'd see a lot of comments in the blogsphere about how twitter is undermining the TV coverage.
