Brandon Spikes claims injury report by the Patriots was false

Hey Talib do you remember that song "the hip bone is connected to the...."? you should probably take some anatomy courses because you aren't fooling anyone with the bs line about not having hip problems (especially when they have flared up in the playoffs two consecutive seasons). I am sure the *great* fans in Denver are gonna believe your "honesty" when you miss a couple games because you pull up gimpy with a "thigh" injury.

starting to think Elway tossed a couple extra million to Talib and said "Get Belichick fired"

He was IRed on January 6th. Even if the team was agreed that rest and rehab would be enough, then you still put him on IR if you don't think he'll be able to contribute in the imminent future. That's just the nature of late-season IRing, which means Spikes' claim is still BS.

His claim is not BS. His claim is that rest and rehab would have been enough to get him on the field.

His claim is of a difference of opinion. He's not the first player to disagree with getting IR'd, and he won't be the last. Unfortunately, following on the back of the Talib comment about his 'thigh'/'hip' injury, his use of the words "false report" was poorly chosen

You mean BB's injury report is full of BS?

Gee, you don't say....

There I thought Brady has had a chronic shoulder problem the past 13 years.

How Spikes became to be such a legend to some around here in the first place seemed odd to me.

He was a hard hitter who provided some physicality and a good spark at times, but he's hardly anything of even an above average football player in my eyes. I suppose his entire picture isn't yet clear, but I've often seen many here overrate his talent.

In 4 years, he had about 1.5 of solid play--maybe 2 years, tops. There were injuries, attitude problems, stupid decisions, about 10,000 different tweets (some which showed him being pissed at BB and the team), failure to show up to OTAs, snow problems, references to drug use, PED suspension, etc.

He's someone else's headache now. I'll miss his big hits, but I won't miss the weaknesses, which I think defined his career here more than his solid play.

Ding, ding, ding..and we have a winner! He tried to go against the grain and push his own agenda too much. Nobody gets away with that. Not even Brady. Of course TB is way too smart and grateful for that.

The injury report is stupid. There's literally no point for it. Detailing where the player's injury is will only encourage dirty players to target the area the following week.

And Talib is a little b!tch. He was explicitly shown grabbing his hip, game after game that piece of glass played in. He's lucky Bill and the Patriots are the only reason he got his big contract - and encouraged him while here to grow up & stay out of trouble.

Spikes thing is much ado about nothing. He was injured. Anyone who watched him the second half of the season cannot dispute that. They chose to play him for most of the year, but when he missed the entire day one day in a snow day they felt he wasn't doing enough to rehab and help the team and decided to shut him down.

Teams IR players that can play less than 100% all the time. I don't get the gripe. It was reported that him not coming into the stadium on a snow day was the catalyst of him getting put on IR. And if he wasn't put on IR, then he was disciplined. Still not an issue.

And the Talib thing could be semantics. If it is an upper thigh injury, it is basically a hip injury. They are in the same relative area. And the Pats never claimed it was the same hip injury that hindered him in Tampa.

I was pretty much ignoring this whole thing, until I saw it on ESPN today @ the gym.

Looks so much worse in quotes on TV. Seems like Spikes/Talib trying to paint Pats management in a bad light.

Ten or fifteen years ago, Spikes would have been a solid LB in this league. He is one of the better run defending LBs in the NFL. Unfortunately, a run down LB specialist is becoming obsolete and the league is moving to lighter, faster coverage guys like Jamie Collins.

This is typical off-season nonsense. If these guys were cut out to be long term Patriots, they'd still be here. Instead, they end up like other malcontents like Shawn Springs and Adalius Thomas... down the road.

Another poster said it earlier, Spikes is someone else's headache now. Good luck to him, and good luck to them. I am sure under a more "player friendly" system, we'll see plenty of him on Chatroullette or whatever the hell it's called.

who's going to fire him? Kraft? Cold day in hell.

Yeah, all you need to do is re-watch "A football life" prior to the snow game vs TEN.

Kraft asks Belichick something like "do you think the weather will be a factor today?"

Belichick shrugs, continues to eat his sunflower seeds, mumbles something incoherently several times, and gives him a totally ass-backwards answer like "it could effect things, maybe it won't," or something to that effect.

Either they have the best relationship for coach/owner in the game like brothers, or Belichick realizes that he doesn't really have to answer to anyone. That's not suggesting that he doesn't respect Kraft, but you don't need to be a genius to read the obviousness of the body language in that scene too much either. Bill did not seem overly concerned about paying too much attention to Kraft at that point in time. I'm thinking he's pretty confident about his job.

Re: BB holding NFL hostage !!

Mike Reiss debunked those claims by Spikes and Talib yesterday. If ventriloquist dummy Florio is trying to make hay on them it clearly is more of his anti-Patriots spew. I refuse to click.

Re: BB holding NFL hostage !!

fair warning: another pile of crap from florio.

Spikes, Talib say Patriots file false injury reports | ProFootballTalk

I know he is peddling the PATS hate to get more hits to his site (mea culpa) ;) but if only there is a shred of truth to BB holding Roger by the balls, that would be awesome. :rocker:

What I dont get is if Belichick can blackmail the NFL why didnt he do so to force Goodell to come out with a favorable decision ABOUT Spygate? Goodell could have put it all to bed with a slap of the wrist.

And I dont think its business with Florio. He talks like he's actually that petty and butthurt.

Don't spoil the crazy theory with your logic!

Belichick blackmailed the league. Kraft runs the league. Except they let the league over-punish them in this instance because...Well, just because.

All the rule changes have helped Manning far more than Brady.

This topic actually led to me creating an account on a Jets forum to set them straight. Other fans really want this to be a big story but its clearly a non issue.

Spikes disagreed with being sent to IR. Understandable that he would want to play the last couple of games before he reaches Free Agency. The thing is he was carried of the field in the last game before he got sent to IR so the team has every right to send him to IR to get a healthy replacement in.

As far as talib goes, he claimed that the Pats gave false injury reports on him as he has not suffered a hip injury since he was with the Bucs. If you watch the Texans game from 2 seasons ago, the first play after the 2 min warning in the 1st half Talib dives to break up a pass and stays down and clutches at his hip.

It is pretty clear that he injured his hip on that play and was hobbled with that injury for the rest of the season until he ultimately left the AFCCG when it got re-aggrevated.

Regardless just from that play against the Texans alone, where he clearly injuries his hip it shows that he lied saying he never had a hip injury with the Pats so how can you believe anything else he says after that.

And despite giving them facts and probably being matter of fact about everything, I bet they called you names and told you to GTFO.

Haters dont let facts get in the way of their hating.
