Brandon Spikes claims injury report by the Patriots was false

!@#$'em. The guy is straight up lying. He even mentions Talib saying this same bull$#@!; trying to legitimize what Talib said by making it seem more legit with two people having the same complaint. He is trying to pile on to make it seem like they aren't both full of it.

The fun part of this knee injury: the Bills were laughing at him and talking !@#$ to him after he hurt his knee. A coach on the side line was the worst of them about it. Yet He signed with that team anyway and talks about New England negatively. Classic case of an idiot with a bullhorn (twitter).

Another odd thing about Spikes going to Buffalo was that he had some heat there after knocking out Fred Jackson a couple of years ago. While they were tending to Jackson, Spikes looked at his bicep and flexed it, which some people took to be gloating over Jackson.

Brandon Spikes in a nutshell:

te·di·ous
ˈtēdēəs/
adjective
1. too long, slow, or dull: tiresome or monotonous.

Well, then I suppose this means we can look forward to both Talib and Spikes playing each and every game this season now that they are free of the Patriots and their evil injury-inventing ways.

I've played as many complete NFL seasons as Talib has

... and I'm only one behind Spikes.

Speaks to the type of player in the NFL these days, Welker, Talib, and Spikes all should have walked away thanking the franchise for the opportunity, instead they insert their foot in their mouth.

Well yes, rather famously ...

Yet another reminder that, no matter how he spins it, the guy has to go play in Buffalo now. **** organization, **** city. It is its own punishment.

Guy felt his injury only required rest and rehab.

Team put him on IR.

This is new to you posters?

Look, I hate to say it but really I don't...read his tweets...he's not the brightest bulb in the rack. I take his claims with a grain of salt...

Silly. The guy was playing on one leg, everybody knew it. Whenever the club felt his contribution was less than Collins could do, whether or not it had to do with his attitude, they IR'd him, because he was injured.

Did he suddenly become not injured at some point? No.

TBH, Spikes is now an ex-Patriots player to me. As history has proven, they generally go on to do SFA once Belichick has decided they're superfluous to his needs.

Good luck to Spikes in Buffalo but I'm not surprised he couldn't keep his mouth shut.

I think he's claiming that if his "playing on one leg" was considered to be that bad, they'd likely have had him at least limited in practice or during his on-field reps in those last couple of weeks, no?

We'll never know the full truth, so it's basically pointless in speculating. As you and Deus said, the only real important facts to consider is that he was obviously not entirely 100%, and they felt that they could do better without him/with another player in his place. That's really all we need to know, and that's obviously a fact.

Now...how "playing on one leg" he was is up for debate, but we've gone down that road before. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility to assume that there is more to it, but we'll never truly know one way or another.

How Spikes became to be such a legend to some around here in the first place seemed odd to me.

He was a hard hitter who provided some physicality and a good spark at times, but he's hardly anything of even an above average football player in my eyes. I suppose his entire picture isn't yet clear, but I've often seen many here overrate his talent.

In 4 years, he had about 1.5 of solid play--maybe 2 years, tops. There were injuries, attitude problems, stupid decisions, about 10,000 different tweets (some which showed him being pissed at BB and the team), failure to show up to OTAs, snow problems, references to drug use, PED suspension, etc.

He's someone else's headache now. I'll miss his big hits, but I won't miss the weaknesses, which I think defined his career here more than his solid play.

Doesn't matter. Most players play injured. When the team decides an injured player isn't contributing they can put him on injured reserve.

Players (notably Kliff Kingsbury) have intimated they weren't injured, but that's not the case here, so there's no story.

Spikes knee buckled near the sidelines on national TV in one of the big games late in the year.

Correct me if I am wrong but I recall that at the end of the game against his new team the Buffalo Bills in week 17 him holding his knee and being tended to along the hash marks at the end of the fourth quarter. You would have thought one of those Buffalo reporters would have said “but what about”.

You're not wrong...

I, too, will miss his physical play, his enthusiasm, but not his intelligence nor his decision-making.

I give him about 4-5 games before he suddenly realizes how good he had it here, as he acclimatizes to a dysfunctional franchise that is used to losing and shrugs over it.

I think you make an excellent point. Spikes benefited greatly during his time here from the fact Belichick understood his limitations and played to his strengths. He also had the benefit of playing with Mayo who lined up at the WILB (3-4) and the WILL (4-3), and Wilfork who took on 2-3 blockers. Spikes basically had one primary responsibility which was to either run blitz the A-gap or play the A-gap. He was able to do this most times without being blocked because of Wilfork and did not have to worry about tackling sideline to sideline because of Mayo.

I'm particularly fond of my linebackers being strong in the run game and being able to drop back into coverage when required. I don't see it as a position that requires specialists. Really, you should be able to do both and play the 3 downs. Hopefully the collection of linebackers is moving toward that.

Worst part, from a PR standpoint: BB as a rule will not throw the players he coaches under the bus, and he won't talk about former players either.

And of course PFT already posted their bait on this story and the Patriot haters are arfing and clapping right on cue.

Loved this comment:
"THE PATRIOTS SET THEIR TEAM CLOCKS 5 MINUTES AHEAD. LET’S GET OUTRAGED AND MAKE ANGRY POSTS ABOUT BILL BELICHEAT AND HIS MANIPULATION OF TIMEPIECES." :D

I like his twitter heading :"Free at last!" He is certainly free now....free to be late to meetings, not make football a priority, post whatever he wants on twitter, and work out on his own with some guy in Florida. That dictatorial BB expected him to be a professional..how dare he! All I can say is good luck to the Bills.

He was IRed on January 6th. Even if the team was agreed that rest and rehab would be enough, then you still put him on IR if you don't think he'll be able to contribute in the imminent future. That's just the nature of late-season IRing, which means Spikes' claim is still BS.
