Welker contract with Denver discussed on PFT
My comment (edited):

This goes against the Manninglingus of this, and almost all sites. But with Brady he, although “lit up” regularly, he always got up. With Manning he has two concussions. With Peyton Austin Collie get led into safeties and gets concussed regularly. This year he did OK in spot duty for Brady and the Patriots.

Hmm…, Peyton Manning leads receivers over the middle into safeties and linebackers and unless they alligator arm, like Decker in the Super Bowl, they end up on baby food because chewing is too loud.

I read many comments from Bronco fans complaining Welker is oft injured.

My prediction that Welker will end up like Collie, because Peyton will lead him into hits is coming true.

If I took Welker back it would be like Collie. He's brain injured from Manning hanging him out to dry - not a comment on Welker or Amendola or Talib. This is a comment on Peyton, "concussed slot receiver" Manning.

Any way, would you take Welker back?

Not if it means giving up on/not paying Edleman.

And on a different note and now that this season is over -I'd love to hear Welker's honest comparison of Manning and Brady.

There really is something to this Manning getting his slot-receivers concussed in my opinion just as it is that Brady doesn't receive enough credit for leading his receivers/throwing passes low so that they can drop to safety.

No. And for what it's worth it doesn't matter what any of us think. It's all up to BB and when it comes to the Wuss, he'll be back just before Hernandez returns. And I mean no disrespect to anyone with that prediction

How does Peyton lead his guys into dangerous spots? Curious to know. Is it just poor play calling or is it the spots Peyton decides to throw it? It does seem like Brady doesn't leave his guys in spots where they'll take big hits.

This thread is awful on so many levels.

1) Yes, Peyton Manning is responsible for giving guys concussions  Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne caught balls from Manning for years and they seem to be fine.
2) Bringing back Welker would mean getting rid of Edelman which is a terrible idea.
3) Belichick and the organization would never even consider bringing Wes back.

Between this thread and trading Mallett and Ridley to the Browns for the #4, I'm not sure what happened to the fan base.

Thank you!

I've been saying for years that Peyton has hung his guys out to dry; glad to see others have noticed.

No, i would not take him back. He left here under bad terms and I think Edleman put up pretty good numbers when give the chance. Not really anymore room for a small slot WR

I don't think #3 is true. Ty Law talked a lot a crap about BB and he tried to bring Law back like 2-3 times at least.

I think not only him leaving on bad terms to Denver but then throw in what happened in the AFC Championship Game and there is no way that he is coming back. For Belichick to publically call out Welker after the game for what he said was a dirty play on Talib, I see no way that it is even a consideration.

It's just that people that make the accusation that it happens disproportionately dislike Peyton Manning...that's how.

What's the saying about bridges?

He's not coming back.

To paraphrase Rick Pitino. Randy Moss is not walking thru that door. Troy Brown is not walking thru that door.

Peyton hits him on a slot or a five yard pass with defenders in his vicinity and totally lining him up. I saw it so many times in the six or seven Bronco games I watch during the regular season. They were passes Brady would of went elsewhere on (unless in frantic huge game situation maybe). In other words, before Peyton even throws the ball, you see that Welker is clearly going to get obliterated if he catches the ball, or even on a defender breaking up the catch.

Big defensive backs will have him lined up and running in at full speed? Peyton hits Welker with the ball right as he gets there so Welker gets blind side annihilated. I saw it so many times.

So, so overrated.

A selfish player.

There are a ton of players I'd love to see in a Patriots jersey but Welker is not one of them. I hope the rest of his career is terrible.

I agree. I don't want Welker back either.

I usually wish players well but Welker is sort of a traitor.

I won't throw trash or hurl insults at the guy in a restaurant, and wish him good health, but he's basically dead to me. Leave the Patriots for the same contract you would of basically have gotten here, and catch balls for Peyton Manning.

Sorry, but somethings are unforgivable until retirement.

Wes Welker played football in New England but he left before the job was done.

We were close, too, and ascending, but he went to finish it with Denver.

Most of last 2012's record setting offense with our new defense?
Would of changed everything.

Hope Welker retires.

A traitor? Really?

So you think Welker owes you something? What?

It's a business, and it's pretty clear that Welker and Belichick probably have a mutual dislike for each other for some reason. Perhaps Welker was merely seeking a better working environment for himself or something along those lines.

This is nothing but unintelligible sour grapes. Draw a line in the sand and project an unreasonable take on the situation.

But I don't see why Welker would WANT to play for fans like you, and I'm sure he never did. If that sounds offensive, then so be it...like a 13-year-old girl here who didn't get her way.

Love what Welker did during his time with New England but his burst looks to have significantly declined to me. Still, he's one of my all time favorite Patriots but there's a need to fill the team with players who possess quickness or outright speed.

I'd golf clap for your soap box speech but the Broncos are a temporary conference rival, so when one our of team hall of fame players jumps ship because he can't get along with a coach who many, many future NFL Hall of Famers will say is the only man they would ever want to play for.

Yeah, it's a business. You're so insightful. He would of gotten reasonable paid here as well, especially if he wasn't trolling our head coach like a man-child.
Welker wanted in the neighborhood of 10M a year, no one wanted to pay, so he went to elsewhere so he didn't lose face since that's what the Patriots explained to him privately to begin with.

Kraft said publicly that his deal would of easily got done for what he went to Denver for.

He was just being a brat.

As usual, the anti-Welker positions taken here are ridiculous.

Welker would instantly be the team's best WR if he returned. But let's not bring him back because Patsfans.com posters got a hair across their asses over a player not taking a **** sandwich from the team and saying "Yummy!". :bricks:

Auntie Spam is back and insulting every member he can...again...the moron who bragged about the big money play he was making on the Broncos in the Bowl..the idiot who showed up a day after and bragged he was just joking and actually WON big money. The pathologically addicted loser whose cocaine and bourbon rants on our board are reaching epidemic proportions.

Pay him no attention...he's a Phillip Seymour Hoffman knockoff looking for a sidewalk swan dive into the Big Dirt Nap beyond.

Welker owes ME clutch catches in Super Bowl 46 and the 2013 AFCCG vs. Baltimore.

P.S. Give Frank Zappa his album title back. You're not clever enough to do it justice.
