If the Pats lose this game at Denver, how bad would it be?

IF we lose this week I will feel like we have a very good season considering what has happened to this team this season.

We are playing with house money at this point, and win lose or draw due to the injuries we are pretty well positioned for next year, with so many young players stepping up to prove they are legit NFL players, take DT for example, We lose VW, Armsted and Kelley, but Chris Jones, Siligia show up (and even Vellano to a lesser exxtent, IF VW recovers that position looks very solid next year.

At this point I look at any win as a gift from God. If they go on to win it all, I'll put it right up there with SB 36 as the most astounding accomplishment in team history.

A team playing this many rookies has no right to be in the playoffs at all in my opinion.

The worst way to lose?
Be up 3 or 4 with the ball and 4minutes left and failing to score/seal the game...punting it back to Peyton who marches down the field to win it.

THAT would be the worst. I'd rather get blown out.

Uh, I think that already happened. See 2006 AFC Championship.

I think they can win, but if they do, it will be because they are tougher. If they lose, it will be because they have less talent on the field. I'm OK with that. This is nowhere near as crushing a loss as:

1. 2006-7 (Colts)
2. 2007-8 (Giants)
3. 2011-12 (Giants)
4. 2010-11 (Jets)
5. 2005-6 (Broncos)

The 5 most crushing losses in the Brady-Belichick era. In that order.

I totally agree with you on number 1. Being up 21-3 and blowing that game was the most painful sports loss I have ever experienced--especially knowing how undermanned the Pats were in that one. Most Pats fans say 2007 to the Giants was the worst...I don't think so, I was more mad at the way McDaniels called that game....they never ran their offense properly until 4 or 5 minutes left in that game--it almost seemed the Pats were in hibernation mode the entire game and weren't really aware that it was the SB.

A loss would be disappointing, make no mistake about that. But relative to other losses, if that does happen then it would rank very low. As far as I am concerned the Patriots have vastly overachieved this year when you consider the very long list of starters and key players that are out with injuries now, or for large parts of this season - as well as dealing with the distraction and loss of a former key player/current inmate.

I will say that I am pleasantly surprised to see that I am not the only person that still ranks the 1966 season-ending loss to the Jets as one of the worst, if not the worst loss ever for a fan of the Patriots. The Jets had only won one of their previous eight games while the AFL East Pats had just battled the AFL West Chiefs to a 27-27 tie a few weeks earlier. It seemed like those two were destined to meet again, and I was confident the Patriots would win that rematch for what would be the first ever championship game between the AFL and NFL - something that a year or so later would be called the Super Bowl, in a twist of a popular toy we had as kids back then known as a Super Ball. It was crushing to lose that game, a chance to play for the AFL title, and a chance to play in the first ever NFL-AFL game. Not coincidentally it was also the onset of my distaste for anything and everything to do with the Jets. For me personally that, and the Ben Dreith game rank 1-2 as 'worst' losses.

I'm gonna have to look up that 1966 Jets game. I was 6 at the time... didn't start following football for another 5 years, when the Pats drafted Plunkett.

I heard from one of the talking heads that the Pats have the second youngest roster in the league currently think about that. The next 4 year with Brady (hopefully) playing at QB could be epic.

Getting to 3 straight AFCCG's is remarkable given the roster turnover. As a guy who has ben watching football for 50+ years I totally enjoy and appreciate what the current ownership/FO is providing to me as a Football fan, what's not to like.

for those disappointed with a SB of Conference chamionship game loss try rooting fo rth Browns or Cardinals for 40 years and get back to me.

Randy Moss SB 42 almost catch - YouTube

If Brady throws this football a tad sooner I believe this is a touchdown.... and probably the greatest one in the history of the NFL.

And I think Moss could have caught this anyway if he wanted to make an effort. :(
