To pump up the team, Belichick brings in "Reverend Smith" to give a pre-game speech. He drones on in a monotone about, well, no one's sure. Then he pulls out a watch on a chain and tells everyone they are sleepy, very sleeeeeepy.
Then Belichick tells them thaat if they just execute the game plan they can come back from this 21 point deficit in this second half.

Well, any one else got an idea?

Quit calling 40 yard pass plays on the first play of the game.

Run the ball! Ridley really has to step his game up with gronk going down.

Kinda off topic, but I also want to see Blount go back into the role of "the closer" at the end of long drives and in the 4th when the D is tired I think Blount would excel being so hard to take down and being fresh.

It would be interesting to chart time between plays in the recent first halves.

Start the games in "hurry up" mode.

Even at it's peak, the offense always was way better in hurry up mode.

They are saving that for the postseason, I think.

Go back to dink and dunk taking out small yards at a time and moving up the field.

What killed us against the browns is they start out going for the kill long pass. And when they don't make it they are in a poor position putting them in 3rd and long.

I hate that long incompletion on 1st and run for a yard or two on 2nd

I'd like to see more "no huddle". I think they only used it at the end of the game last week. Start out with that - not necessarily hurry up but getting to the line quick doesn't allow the defense to change-Brady sees what they have and boom calls the correct play. I know some of these guys are young but they should have a grasp of most of the plays even if they shorten the playbook

Here's a thought…
On 3rd & 2 don't try for the 20 yard downfield back shoulder pass.
Just move the chains.

Pick up the pace. Quick passing, spread them out.

People nationally might be slow to realize this, but we know that no Gronk really hurts the running game.

We can't run to set up the pass anymore. We have to pass to set up the run. I'd go spread. When healthy, we have a good group of wideouts now, and a RB who is a nightmare to cover out of the backfield. Spread them out, make the D bring in their smurfy nickel, and let Brady work. The run game will open up, we have an athletic OL that blocks well against nickel Ds.

Fire McDaniels as he's clearly the cause for every problem that has ever existed. :bricks:

I disagree. I don't think we ll miss gronk as much in the run game as we will in the pass game. I think between Mulligan and Hooman the pats will be able to block just as effectively. Mulligan might be just as good as gronk in the run blocking aspect of being a tight end.

Yeah. Score points early.

Points? Points? Don't talk to me about points... we're just trying to get a first down.... :)

Seriously, a 3 and out has been a good first half series for the Pats. It's better than the turnovers (Brady had two in the first half Sunday).

Me, too. But, it may be just an admission by the Pats that their offense simply isn't good enough to dink and dunk the ball downfield. Bad teams throw prayers downfield, figuring that even a blind pig finds an acorn every once in a while (see Ravens...)

On the other hand, that opening play Sunday was WIDE OPEN for a touchdown, so it's hard to argue with the call or decision on where to go with the ball.

Let Brady call his own game right from the start. If they can simplify the offense down to a one word call then they can come up with a system for Brady to call his own game, and they can go over the ongoing gameplan and units subbing in and out on the sidelines between drives. Whenever they turn the offense over to Brady it seems to go into overdrive, and when MacDaniels is calling the plays from the sidelines they seem to be very inconsistent.*

*It is probably because the opposing teams are cheating and stealing their plays.

We can't have it both ways. If we start fast, we'll do nothing in the second half, then the opposite team will be the one making the comeback.
