If Amendola is done for the year (God I hope not) then Collie should go into his spot. He's a gamer

Anyone see the Saints huddling up over the ball on the sidelines thinking the game was done with 2:30 left? The announcers were awful. A 3 and out, one timeout and the 2 minute warned the pats could easily get the ball back with 1:30 left...they kept saying the game was over.

yup. They got penalized 7 points for premature celebration.

Lost in all the hoopla is the fact that Brady and the Pats went true uptempo for a long stretch in the game. We hadn't seen that all season to this point.

Put in the work during the week.

Bill Belichick talking about Austin Collie making big catch on final drive. Says Collie staying 2-2.5 hours late every day to get up 2 speed @MikeReiss

things we should target next offseason.

A legit #1 CB Talib is an excellent player, but soon as he goes out of defense Secondary falls apart

Talib IS a legit #1 CB. And the secondary didn't "fall apart". Kenny Stills made one helluva play. Or can't you give him credit of that.

WR:
At this point defending amendola is just counter productive, I gave him enough chances, the dude doesnt shy away from hard hits and because of that he takes way more damage then he should, looked like a concussion doubt we see hime next week. I like thompkins and Dobson, but Thompkins cant seem to stay on his feet, and dobson cant seem to make easy catches. Edelmen is good at what he does but hes just not Elite at reciever.

Yes, he got a concussion today. Because he was held up by one defender and the other defender illegally hit him in the head with his helmet. How is that Amendola's fault???

Dobson made easy catches today. Made some hard ones also. Can't you be bothered to give the defense credit for knocking the ball loose?

Thompkins made a helluva catch at the end of the game, making sure he got both feet in bounds. Not sure how that is "not staying on his feet". The Pats weren't the only ones to trip over themselves today. Pierre Thomas did that as well.

TE:
We need someone to counter gronk.

I think you mean we need someone to complement Gronk.

DL: With wilfork getting up in age, and tommy kelly on a short term contract we need more depth.

Close game, but way to many missed opportunities.

Yep. We do need more depth. However, Vellano and Jones seem to be playing pretty good considering they really didn't have anyone to rotate in for them.

There were so many chicken little's in the gameday thread bashing Brady in the last 2 min of the game....it was hard to watch. I was wondering where the hell did Tompkins went all game, then Brady pulled him out like a 9mm in his pocket..

The offense obviously can get better, but can we just pause and think about that for a moment? That we scored 30 points against the #4 scoring defense today, especially without Gronk? That we missed an easy TD, dropped a bunch of passes, and were still the first team to break 20 points against this D?

There were flashes of what we could be. There obviously needs to be more consistency. But we put up 30 points on the #4 scoring defense today and people are talking about this O like Blaine Gabbert is our QB.

I am eating some serious crow, as many of you can see. I won't bother defending myself.

Looking forward though, I am seriously concerned about these injuries.

* Connolly dropped first, exposing Cannon. The interior OL has played poorly all season, and if Connolly is lost for an extended period of time Brady will be even more erratic.

* Next was Talib. His issues have been his bane throughout his career, and you just gotta hope that he will be able to rest a few weeks and play again maybe after the bye. Losing him for any longer than that will spell the end of this defense.

* Amendola's injury was the scariest. For a player who has poised to play a key role in this offense, I wonder if it's time to simply shut him down for the year for his own good.

* Mayo's injury was also scary. If that shoulder was - god forbid - broken, you lose your defensive leader.

This team has fought so hard to be where it is, but injuries and inexperience won't let them thrive.

Not good enough. We want 10 Hail Marys in front of Tom's shrine, and a goat sacrifice. Then you will be forgiven.;)

Mayo is out, Talib prob has a serious injury, and Amendola is a frekin sissy.

Gotta be the stupidest post you've ever made. Amendola is a sissy? For getting hit in the head by the opposing player's helmet??

The game thread is a mine field every week. The insightful comments are sparse. Most of it is knee-jerk reactions that have no consequence.

Anyone agree with BB's 4th down call ? i thought that was a bad call and a Saints TD wouldve sealed it . credit the defense and some surprisingly conservative payton for getting the last chance.

Collie? He is 1 concussion away from his brain being mush

I too would like to pile it on on those Brady bashers. No other elite QB had such a offensive roster turnover then him. Sure he has made mistakes this year, but the great thing is they are winning with the growing pains of the rookies and without Gronk. Which other QB can lead his team to a 5-1 record with a major offensive turnover??

The Dobson out of bounds, as mentioned above, was an enormous play. He fought hard and didn't give the line judge the chance to call forward progress stopped.

The result of the play, in addition to stopping the clock, was to make the subsequent fourth down only 4th and 4 instead of 4th and 10.

Collie also did a great job fighting to get up and get the ball to the umpire after his catch -- the Saints, like they are supposed to do, were holding him down, which I believe is permitted and in any event never gets called.

The defense holding the Saints to two three-and-outs when a first down would have effectively ending the game was also pretty significant.

Aikman literally said it was a tough loss before the 2 minute warning.
