Patriots CUTS

Pats have released DE Justin Francis, LB Ja'Gared Davis, and S Kannoris Davis.

Francis is surprising.

So from my calculations, we have three more cuts to make. I would think Justin Green and Stephon Morris. Possibly one of the offensive linemen.

I'm guessing we cut well below 53 and sign/trade for quite a few.

Francis was my surprise cut. I just think he's at his ceiling and it isn't very high to begin with.

Francis and Forston cuts have me a bit puzzled. Someone must be on their way in here to play DL.

Morris was waived yesterday.

Shocked about Francis. He was coming on at the end of the season last year. I figured he was a lock. No way they will sneak him onto the practice squad.

There has to be a D-Line signing imminent right? We seem to have little-to-no depth on the line from my viewpoint.

I have never understood all the Francis love.

Word is that Cleveland who have a wealth of depth on the d-line and lots and lots of holes everywhere else are shopping d-linemen. Belichick and Lombardi are good friends and have a long history of trades when Lombardi was calling the shots in Oakland. If a trade is coming, that is the likely place it will be coming from.

I’m glad Francis is gone to be completely honest but we do have question marks unless they intend to use Collins a lot more at DE than they showed in the preseason.

Currently this is basically what we have for a depth chart if I am not mistaken:

LDE – Ninkovich, Buchanan
3Tech – Kelly, Vellano
1Tech – Wilfork
RDE – Jones, Bequette

That is extremely thin, and I am not even sure with Cunningham, Francis and Benard gone we have a player to fill that sub package 3Tech role.

I had a roster spot penciled in under the name "Francis OR Benard." Both gone is definitely a surprise to me.

A DT signing is in the works. We are now down to 53, and now we wait..

I expect the Patriots to go below 53. A D-Line signing(s?) has to be imminent.
