CB Aqib Talib re-signs (with Patriots) for One Year

Was hoping for a multi-year deal, but I'm fine with 1 year. Will at least force him to stay in shape and stay out of trouble.

Hah -- that can be taken as not exactly a ringing endorsement!

Ha, so true....

LCB Asante Samuel
RCB Ellis Hobbs
NB Randall Gay
SS Rodney Harrison
FS James Sanders

Our last secondary that really wasn't a mess. I think I'd take our current one over it though.

Good news. 1 more year of Talib is better than starting off at square one with this secondary. Add in Wilson as well and we should be good. Hopefully our secondary bad boys (Dennard + Talib) can stay out of trouble. Not to mention Arrington is coming back to man the slot. I think we're in good shape. Don't have to pick a DB in the draft now if the value isn't there.

Good enough for now but sign another cornerback to cover the Dennard situation.

It's good that they got it done. Now there's at least a trio of CBs who can be expected to play most of the games.

Amazing news. Good money, too.

Great news. I'm sure if he keeps his nose clean and stays healthy for 16 games Bill will show him the money next year. Great move slowly things are looking up, let's get some pass rush now!:rocker:

Aqib Talib's one-year deal with the Patriots is worth $5 million.

Wow. ANyone remember what the franchise tag would have been?

Twice that amount, I believe.

Pretty decent audition half-season. Welcome aquataliban!

The news just keeps getting better and better. Pats are really going all in this year. Let's just hope most of these players aren't busts and let downs like previous acquisitions these past few years.

Nice!!! :rocker:

Hopefully this means McCourty can stay at safety.

Great news! Would have preferred a longer deal, but it sounds like he didn't like this year's market. I'm okay with this.

Reports that I am hearing/reading are that Talib also had three other offers, but chose the Pats.

Also the Pats reportedly offered him a multi-year deal, in addition to the one-year deal.

Talib chose the one-year offer with the Pats due to the depressed market for cornerbacks in this year's free agency; the idea being that he'll be able to get a much better multi-year offer next year.

I hope he hits the OTAs heavy and solves that hip problem.

Still don't get how he only makes 1 million more than Arrington, but whatever.

I like it, good outcome for both sides. Now sign one of those pass rushers (or both) and another vet CB (Asomugha, Winfield, Jammer?) then get set to go after a WR or two in the draft. I think everything is starting to fall into place nicely and the Pats patience is paying off.

Love this offseason!!!!! Get Sanders now. Amendola, Jones, and Sanders better than Welker!

Because Arrington's deal is for multiple years.
