Chung an Eagle

Chung had a breakout game for the ages in Miami on a Monday Night, October 4th, 2010. A pick 6 and a blocked punt scooped up by another Pat and returned for a touchdown. Same game ended up being Moss' last for New England.
Everyone was so high on Chung after this and then he took flaming out to a new low.

In the past 4 straight seasons, the Patriots DB and safety coaches have developed NOBODY. Five+ 1st or 2nd round picks who all got worse after they got here. This includes promising players like McCourty and Chung who did have good seasons earlier in their careers, who got worse over time.

Chung didn't pan out here but the fact that this coaching staff can't point to even 1 player they made better, suggests the secondary coaching on this team is a problem. It doesn't matter how many 1st round picks this team wastes on the secondary if their coaching can't make any player better once they get here.

It's either that or the evaluation of talent, to this day I don't know why he was chosen over Willliam Moore, among others. Didn't seem worthy of his high draft status at the time.

Yeah I think we're revising history a little. Nobody expected Chung or McCourty where they were taken. In fact, ton of people were upset at the time, and got hit in the face with a lot of "in BB we trust" posts. (Not saying that's right or wrong, just how I remember it coming down.)

We may have both evaluation and coaching issues. Probably why a free agent (Talib) could come right in and look immediately better than a single player we drafted.

Good riddance...Chung is a glass cannon who can't cover anyone.

Good luck and good health on your new team

I do not get the hate for Chung. The guy played well at times, seemed to struggle with injury, and fell off the map. No need to spew all kinds of hate on the guy.

When he's our highest pick of the draft and is holding a Pats shirt with his picture alongside Kraft plastered in every Boston newspaper the morning after the draft........ yes there's a need to yell at the guy for not fulfilling his potential.

There should be a HATER FORUM here because that's what so much of this sh.ttalk really is. Patriots fans are becoming more and more like Eagles and Jet fans every day. Every player who isn't an all pro sucks and is a bust, and even those who are all pro's suck and should be moved if they have a year that isn't all world.

Wow RT @GeoffMosherCSN: Patrick Chung has his base $3.25M in 2014 fully guaranteed, They expect hi to be a starter this year and next.

Chip Kelly seems to be high on Chung.

The guy gave it his all and it did not work out. It is not like he was screwing around and being a turd. He just could not physically do what the Patriots asked him to do. If anything, you should be mad at the Patriots for drafting a player that could not perform the job they asked him to perform.

The fake punt I do not hold against Chung. I hold it against the coaching staff. They gave him the authority to call a fake punt in the first place. They should have had checks in place to void him of that optionality inside their own 50, or whatnot. Unless Reiss reported Chung went rouge, that one is on BB who presumably "approves" game plan of ST coach Scott Obrien I believe.

Bad players making bad plays which could have been prevented.

The play was in the game plan but his choice to execute in that situation was a complete uprise tithe staff

He got 3 years/$10 mill!

He must be laughing to the bank! Interested to see if he stays healthy!

Wow, overpaid by 3x. On one hand I'm happy for him, since my friends who have met him say that he's a nice guy and all, but OTOH I'd be going ballistic if the Pats had given him anything more than the vet minimum, so... yeah. Dunno wtf Chip Kelly is thinking.

Chung was pretty much the definition of a bust, and it's not hater talk to admit as much. Just out of curiosity, does your weird, slavish devotion to Welker extend to Chung as well?

Chung was a bust. Hate has nothing to do with it.

I think he'll do better in a different system.

Respecting a player who has performed like a Hall of Famer and who is tougher than any player that has played here is common sense, but i wouldn't expect any of the fantasy football losers here to understand that. As far as Chung goes i could care less, i just don't get the haterade shower people are pouring on him.

Anyone who can't see that Welker is a great player is a ****** who knows absolutely nothing about football, feel free to join those who belong in that category.

Chung's problem is that he cannot stay healthy, i'm not sure that will change.

Careful. Best thing to do is throw that Pandora's Box right down the garbage chute rather than risk any comment that could possibly be interpreted as a slight against His Holiness Wesley Welker.
