Vince Wilfork interception - YouTube gives a great shot of McCourty's penalty. He basically tackled a Charger who was coming around to poke at the ball with Vince being seemingly unaware.

i wasn't aware that play was even being disputed on here

when i was watching it live i said damn! mccourty is a smart little bastard lol

the fact some here actually thought mccourty made a bad play is mind boggling

Agreed, McCourty was very smart! He could see what Tolbert (i think it was him) was going to do!

The announcers were saying how the penalty could have meant no field goal attempt! I think without it it could have meant no field goal either!

I didn't see that angle on TV, so I just assumed that McCourty had made a hustle play that went wrong.

There are lots of bad blocks on interception returns, because they're pretty chaotic, with guys running from all angles at all kinds of speeds.

That's pretty cool of him to say. Rivers doesn't get enough respect around the league considering how good he is.

Playing the AFC championship on a completely blown out knee is enough to get respect from me; it also shows how much of a chump Cutler is. Rivers is actually really unlikeable, but I like him for some reason. It probably has a lot to do with the aformentioned considering my history with knee injuries.

who was the audio / what was source on that stream? Was that from in game or afterwards?

cause they saw a lot better analysis than what we heard from cbs analysts (sp? naah - mistyped and then liked it better). ;)

was that a McCourty penalty??? I wouldn't have called it... Our CB was very close to shoulder alignment of the strip dude (give or take 3-4 inches).

this is no different than those LOSER Colt fans that wanted a flag for an illegal block in back during Peyton's Pick 6 game where he helped the Saints march to victory:)

CLUTCH:cool:

The Saints (Will Smith DE) did kinda get away w. a block in the back against PM. As for McC, it was a legal flag.

My wife saw the replay of Vince's pick for the first time yesterday and said, "He looks like a pumpkin!"

Chris

Thank you for this thread! :D

I thought I heard him say, "Skadoosh", as he picked off that pass!

Regards,
Chris

Rivers was like "You're bluffing! You're bluffing! Belichick didn't teach you that!"
And Wilfork said "No, I figured it out myself."

Watching that again, it's easy to see why Rivers threw that interception. From his point of view it looked like Wilfork was being blocked. Wilfork never really came at him so he was able to drop back into coverage at the last possible second to get that interception. Smart play on Wilfork's part.

Yea, Cutler is a real whimp. He wanted to bow out of the game because he was playing terrible in the first half. Rivers understood that he gave the Chargers a better chance of winning with a torn ACL in the AFCC game than a fully healthy Billy Volek would. It didn't work out for us, but at least he gave it a shot. Cutler on the other hand, was just waiting for a chance to get out of that game even though it could be the last time he's ever 1 game away from a super bowl.

When asked about what he would do if he was in Cutler's shoes during the NFCC game last playoffs against the Pats, Rivers said:

“Me personally, I’d have to have been taken off in a cart,”

You gotta love the guy's heart. :D He went from being carried off on a stretcher after getting a torn ACL, to one week later playing in the AFCC Game:

This is what Tom Brady had to say about it a few days after the game:

Philip Rivers hobbled his way through the AFC Championship Game, his right knee in tatters, the anterior cruciate ligament torn and the medial collateral ligament sprained.
He also provided an image that could prove everlasting.

"I did an interview with Tom Brady (the other day), and the first thing Tom and I talked about was what Philip Rivers did," Trent Dilfer of NFL Network told us at Super Bowl XLII media day in Phoenix. "Tom said to me, 'That guy forever won me over. Forever!'"

Especially when you contrast it with this.

LOL! Now that L.T. is off the chargers, I can laugh about that. He was great in the regular season but never came through for us in the playoffs.
