OT: Jets coach on sidelines trips opposing player

Should be interesting to see what Goddell does?? if anything.

I will lose my mind if Goodell doesn't do anything about this.

I mentioned this is another thread but it certainly bears repeating here. That was a disgusting, despicable act. It reminded me of the Ulf Samuelsson hit on Cam Neely all those years ago. He could easily have caused a career-ending injury. The Dolphins have every right to go ballistic over this.

By not getting out of the way, it pretty much means he tried to trip the dolphins player.

I really dont understand how he did not see caroll running towards him.

Similar to other things that Goodell has previously done, he has greased himself a slippery slope. He's already said that those within the organization that are not players are held to a higher standard. There was the Cowboys assistant coach that was suspended for four games for PEDs as one example, and the Titans owner who flipped the bird as another.

Point is that if Goodell does nothing, it will give the appearance that he has a double standard when it comes to the Jets. One time with a double standard could be explained, but two or three cannot.

If Goodell does not throw Alosi under the bus as a sacrificial lamb, he may find himself under a lot more scrutiny than he anticipated - or that he can talk his way out of.

There will be a fine and a suspension for the individual. Goodell will do that much.

What won't be addressed, and this is the important piece, is that this is the result not so much of an individual being a sleezeball all on his own, but instead being encouraged to do so by the culture that Jets management has chosen to create. If this same guy worked for the Pats, or for any of the other coaches with respect for the game, he wouldn't have done this. He'd have a different attitude, as a result of being under the influence of a different culture.

THAT'S what needs to be addressed, and it starts at the top of the Jets organization.

But it won't be; instead, it will be addressed as if this guy's behavior were somehow at odds with the Jets culture.

You miss the point...he did see him thats "why" he tripped him.

I will go beserk if Jetdell, ONCE AGAIN, covers up the actions of the NY Jets using criminal means.

since when has THIS ever stopped Jetdell from covering up for his clandestine employer?

argument over a camera location....3/4 million fine loss of 1st round pick

THIS mind numbingly horrible bad press for the entire league...

I don't think that's what happened. He deliberately stuck out his knee to trip up the Dolphins player which, obviously, implies that he saw him coming. There really isn't any question that it was a deliberate act, and not that it was, like, just a freak accident.

No matter what Goodell does, he will always be a hero to Sexy Rexy??

Hate that f..ing team, even more now.

I am absolutely not surprised by this. You would think Goodell would and should do something, but I doubt he is going to do anything.

Kneegate

Actually, I think it was just a knee jerk reaction on the sideline.

Even if he didnt stick his knee out, the fact that he didnt move out of the way or try to move out of way is grounds for trying to trip the return man.

The Dolphin player was far enough out if bounds that this isn't as clearcut as it seems.

Of course, you're not suggesting that the AC was not wrong to stick his knee out, right?

the guy's post game apology to just about everybody who saw the game...would that sway you a bit?

The whole Jets organization is garbage. That was just beyond bush league.

As I just posted in another thread, this is a pretty clear-cut assault on national TV. The Dolphins player should press charges.

Writer Blog By Wesley Sykes Blog Archive Jets strength coach Sal Alosi trips Dolphins player

“I made a mistake that showed a total lapse in judgment. My conduct was inexcusable and unsportsmanlike and does not reflect what this organization stands for. I spoke to Coach Sparano and Nolan Carroll to apologize before they took off. I have also apologized to Woody [Johnson], Mike [Tannenbaum] and Rex. I accept responsibility for my actions as well as any punishment that follows.”

How far out of bounds Carroll was at the time is irrelevant. Alosi quite intentionally stuck his knee out to trip him. That's the issue here.
