Four players placed on IR, including Bodden; Terrence Johnson cut

Well, losing Bodden just gives this team another opportunity to forge it's own identity, free of yet another starter from last year's soft defense.
Bodden is the most physical corner in the league.

The next round of cuts may yield somebody.

It anit ovah till its ovah

Ovah? Did you say "ovah"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!
And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the goin' gets tough...
the tough get goin'! Who's with me? Let's go!
What the **** happened to the Patriot fans I used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts, huh? This could be the greatest season of our lives, but you're gonna let it be the worst. "Ooh, we're afraid to expect a superbowl cause a few injuries, we might get in disapointed." Well just kiss my ass from now on! Not me! I'm not gonna take this. Rex Ryan, he's a dead man! Parcells, dead! that new guy in Buffalo... Dead! Bluto's right. Psychotic, but absolutely right. We gotta take these bastards. Now we could do it with conventional weapons that could take years and cost millions of lives. No, I think we have to go all out. I think that this situation absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part.
We're just the guys to do it.
Let's do it.

Anybody who thinks that McCourty wouldn't learn almost as well and the team be much better off with him as a situational substitute is delusional. Next year, Moss will likely go the way of other expensive, aging free agents. Fred Taylor, Sammy Morris, Faulk, Neil, and Light will be further over the hill or gone. New Flash: If you intend to be competitive year-in and year-out, every year is a bridge year, unless you get lucky. When your execution and luck are good enough, your bridge year can turn into a Superbowl year. Just exploit your strengths and scheme around your weaknesses and fight until things break your way. A mediocre pass rush plus inexperienced secondary make this year a big challenge, but that doesn't mean things will be any better next year. Three of our studs - Bodden, Warren, and Mankins - are gone. Suck it up and figure out how we deal with it this year. Don't waste your time imagining it's a blessing in disguise. Yeesh.

Not sure of all your points, and you seem to be trying to make several points but I agree with one point, I dont think Pats fans enjoy the football season as much as they used to. I still have those bad 80's and 90's years in my memory and I look at all these Brady Belichick years as gifts.
Do they have what it takes to win a Super Bowl this year? Maybe not but Im going to enjoy watching them try and maybe just maybe the talent will gel and make a run, sure beats Rod Rusts 1-15 years thats for sure.

Yeah, he played the preason with wrist and ankle injuries, but it was the rib injury that did him in.

I LOL'd IRL.

Back on topic: Wow, this one hurts, probably worse than Warren because Bodden played 350 or so more snaps than Warren. That's our best DB right there gone for the year. Of course, now we're primed to get some studs back next year but that's small consolation for this year.

So it's Butler, McCourty, Wilhite, Wheatley. That's a problem. As far as solutions, I don't see Springs as one. I don't see picking up a cut veteran as a likely solution, since they wouldn't be getting cut if they could play, but one never knows, do one? We are not trading the OAK pick to fill a one-year hole. I actually wouldn't reject occasionally sending Meriweather to CB out of hand, since we would still have Chung, Sanders, and McGowan at S; Meriweather can cover guys and it'd confuse some QB's. Otherwise, it's hold your nose and dance with the ones that brung you, at least until someone else goes down.

Where's My Man?!

W....T.........F where did all this come from.

What a horrible offseason this has been. Mankins, Warren, Bodden all gone. And we have yet to play a meaningful down this year.

Well on the bright side this does make the Mccourty pick look alot better :bricks:

you flunked pseudo-history?...tragic...guess you're only option in life is a career in politics

Thats awesome.

So should we feel happy that he knows about World War II, or sad over his desperate ignorance of '70s comedy? Kids today, I tell ya.

have to admit after looking at that IR... isn't everyone glad we picked d mcCourty now... i know we would never have known but imagine if we didn't pick a cb... even bigger holes

Well, when Warren went down Jared Odrick would have looked good.
Hard to base draft success on pre-season injuries.

Pretty rough start to the season, with both Warren and Bodden gone from a thin defense. Suddenly DE and CB join OLB as concerns.

Perfect. Just perfectly put.

Bodden? Damn, that's a HUGE blow.

I guess we'll be seeing more of Wilhite.....................f#ck.

Sad indeed. Ignorance of National Lampoon movies, especially Animal House is almost unforgivable.

"Wanna beer? Don't cost nothin'..." That's gotta be one of my favorite scenes from a movie FULL of memorable scenes. :rocker:

Forget it.

He's on a roll.

well, I for one, thank you for bringing some laughter to this thread of depressing comments.

The way people are posting, you'd think Brady was IR'd. But wait! Pats went 11-5 with Brady on IR. Hell, they won it all while having Earthwind Moreland in the secondary. Surely the season isnt over just because Bodden went on IR.
